Performs various patient testing and administrative tasks supporting clinical activities in UNCHCS.
Hours:
Monday-Friday 3:30pm-12 midnight with 1 in 4 weekends and rotating holidays. Alternative schedules are available and can be discussed.
Responsibilities:
- Investigates problems with equipment, test results, specimens, and workflow.
- Participates in teams or performs special projects/assignments.
- May teach Clinical Laboratory Science students and Pathology residents, and train new employees. Serves as a technical resource.
- Performs quality control and equipment maintenance.
- Performs routine and specialized tests, including chemical, microscopic, and bacteriologic laboratory tests. Observes tests and reactions, providing data.
- Prepares specimens, reagents, solutions, and filters as required.
- Reports results to healthcare providers and confers regarding test results.
- Reviews test results for accuracy and timely correction of errors.
Education Requirements: Bachelor's of Science degree. Must meet eligibility requirements to sit for MT exam within 12 months of hire.
Licensure/Certification Requirements: Must obtain certification within one year of becoming exam eligible.
Professional Experience Requirements: No prior experience required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Relevant skills and abilities as needed.
