Animal Control Officer

Maintain public safety by enforcing animal licensing rules and humane care regulations while on patrol.

Capturing and impounding stray or dangerous animals
Animal cruelty instances are being investigated.
Enforcing licensing rules as well as other states, county, and city laws and regulations relevant to the animal control program
Offering expert testimony in court cases
Rescuing trapped animals
Drafting incident reports
Offering humane care to animals under their supervision

Working with animals is a must.
The ability to stay patient in the face of adversity.
Procedures for animal control are understood.
Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to read, comprehend, and explain state and local animal control laws, rules, and ordinances.
Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent.
Successful completion of on-the-job training.
A background in animal care or law enforcement is a must.
Driver’s license in good standing
