Caseworker 

To monitor the welfare of individuals involved with state or federal intervention. Social workers are tasked with monitoring situations ranging from child protection services to public assistance. Visits to families, homes or schools are frequent in this field. The primary function of casework is to ensure the welfare of the public while protecting state and federal budgets.

 Responsibilities 

  • Drafting responses to clients. 
  • Becoming acquainted with and understanding issues so they can be observed in case handling.
  • Obtaining pertinent information to aid in the resolution of cases.
  • Administration and support for the general office.
  • Attending surgeries and other meetings as needed.
  • Responding to queries from the public.
  • Ensuring client records and information are kept confidential as defined by the privacy act.
  • Assisting clients as their first point of contact either by phone or in person.
  • Monitoring the status of existing cases, ensuring that all identified actions are taken and tracking each case using a database.
  • Acting on behalf of the client as needed, calculating claim values, negotiating, drafting letters and telephoning. 
  • Contacting referred clients to discuss their situation and issues 
  • Taking charge of developing your knowledge in your designated area and ensuring that your knowledge is updated.

Requirements:

  • You must be friendly, approachable and able to work well in a group.
  • An appreciation for the significance of privacy and discretion in your work.
  • You must have the capability to manage a considerable workload and effectively balance competing priorities.
  • Highly proficient written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and a thorough method to completing all tasks. 
  • Excellent time management abilities.
