As a Speech Language Pathologist, you help patients get their power back . You are the person who can help people communicate, swallow, and work to diminish or remediate disorders or deficits. In doing this, you take responsibility for the effective and efficient delivery of rehab services, you design the plan, and work with patients to execute those plans.
You're a healer and a helper, which is why you got into this line of work.
You're equally adept at addressing the whole patient and seeing them as an individual, and you know your goal is the design of a program that will restore, reinforce, and enhance their speech and communication abilities.

Qualifications:Qualifications
1. A Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology, Communication Disorders, Communicative Disorders or similarly-titled area that is consistent and acceptable to the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
2. A Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) or be eligible to participate as an ASHA Clinical Fellow. We will also accept candidates who are eligible to obtain the Certificate of Clinical Competence.

We are a large and growing emergency and specialty hospital located in beautiful Portland, Maine . Our facility is home to board-certified experts in Surgery, Emergency & Critical Care, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Oncology, Cardiology, and Dermatology .

What You’ll Do
As a Surgical Veterinary Technician , you’ll work closely with five board-certified surgeons , surgical residents, and interns. This role involves managing all aspects of surgical nursing—from patient intake and diagnostics to anesthesia, surgical assistance, and post-op recovery.
In this role, you will:
- Assist with anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery
- Support soft tissue, orthopedic, laparoscopic, and neurosurgeries
- Prepare surgical patients and maintain sterile technique in the OR
- Perform post-operative care , treatments, and documentation
- Collaborate with DVMs, residents, and the surgical support team to provide top-tier care
- Communicate compassionately with clients and ensure patients are treated with kindness, dignity, and professionalism
- Help with department flow, scheduling, and maintaining equipment and surgical supplies
Anticipated Schedule
This is a full-time position
- Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday: 9:00 AM - 7:30 PM
- Some holidays are required
Compensation
- Starting at $25/hr, commensurate with experience and licensure
- up to $2,5000 sign on bonus, commensurate with experience and licensure

Requirements
- Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT/CVT/RVT) or Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS) preferred
- Strong experience in anesthesia and surgical procedures
- Veterinary Assistants with extensive surgical experience may be considered
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- A collaborative, team-first approach to patient care
- Passion for learning and contributing to a high-performance surgical team
