Adesta, an Allied Universal Company, is hiring a CAD (Computer Aided Design) Technician II. CAD Technician II will utilize Computer Aided Design software and hardware to provide support for sales designs, projects, update current jobs and projects, and create production in both electronic and hardcopy forms. The technician will produce drawings from project documents, functional markups, conceptual sketches, or verbal descriptions and specifications.

Pay Range: $25/hr-$35/hr

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop plans, drawings, and standards for fiber optics networks installation.
• Update as-built / record drawings for fiber optics network installations.
• Design plans including site layouts, horizontal and vertical layouts, site utilities (including conflicts) and fiber optic splice diagrams.
• Coordinate work activities to balance and maintain schedules.
• Perform work with ESRI ArcGIS, 3GIS, and AutoCAD Civil 2D and 3D software.
• Manage and maintain drawing database.
• Know engineering principles for drawings.
• Support others including CADD operators.

QUALIFICATIONS (MUST HAVE):

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of three (3) years' experience in drafting
• Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Project, and SharePoint)
• Strong experience in applications such as AutoCAD, ESRI ArcGIS, 3GIS, Civil 3D, and MicroStation
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Contribute and work well with others
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers
• Must be detail-oriented and organized
• Self-motivated with the ability to motivate and influence others
• Must be able to manage multiple tasks while meeting strict deadlines

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (NICE TO HAVE):

• Associate's degree in CADD or Engineering Technology

Position Description: CAD Technician I

Location: 720 Butterfield Rd STE 200 Lombard, IL 60148

Primary Function

Perform drafting duties using basic drafting skills and techniques for medium/high voltage substation or transmission line drawings. Assignments are closely supervised and are designed to develop the employees understanding of drafting techniques, corporate/client standards, and procedures. Drafters will either be dedicated to Electrical, Transmission, or Civil/Structural design projects.

Duties & Responsibilities

Employee may be called upon to perform any or all of the following functions:

• Revise CADD drawings per engineering markups
• Perform engineering support tasks under direct supervision (e.g. transmittals)
• Learn and apply the corporate/client standard of drafting and engineering practices
• Learn and properly use document management systems
• Take personal responsibility for the quality and accuracy of his/her work
• Bring potential project-related problems and possible solutions to the attention of the responsible party
• Travel out of town for short periods of time as required by projects and assignments
• Perform other duties as assigned
  
  

• Experience with AutoCAD 2010 and newer is required.
• Experience with Microstation preferred but not required
• 3D CADD experience preferred but not required
• Basic drafting including drawing scales, drawing layouts (Paperspace/Modelspace), and accurately reproducing engineering markups
• CADD, word processing, spreadsheet, and e-mail software
• College level geometry
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal, with co-worker
  
  

• Must be able to endure prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer for a minimum of 8 hours a day
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee will primarily work indoors, with occasional outdoor exposure to year around weather conditions and noise.
• If off-site visits are required, the employee will provide their own steel-toed work boots - the Company will provide all other PPE as needed
• Working extended hours, including weekends, though rare, may be required periodically.
• May occasionally lift up to 25 pounds at a time.

Job Summary:

• Works on routine calculations and drawings with some supervision and reviews engineering designs to ensure adherence to established specifications and standards.

Accountability and Duties:

• Ensures proposal protocol is followed
• Mentors and assists with training other CAD staff
• Accurately completes CAD drawings using firm standards
• Cooperates with engineers, architects, planners, technicians, and draftspersons in the conduct of project activities.
• Performs basic calculations at the directions of design teams
• Accurately completes improvement plans: grading, utility, paving, drainage
• Completes drawing preparation in allotted timeframe
• Works closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects
• Responsible for project schedules and timely completion of projects for self, team members, and subordinates
• Prepares and monitors project budgets
• Keeps supervisor informed of workload and any changes in project scope or additional services
• Provides an accurate accounting of time spent on projects with descriptions for each time entry on a weekly basis

Required Certificates, Licenses, Registration:

• Valid drivers license.

Education and/or Experience:

• Associates degree or technical experience
• One (1) year of experience, or more, required

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Excellent oral and technical written communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to design/engineer moderately difficult engineering projects
• Available to work nights and weekends to complete a project as necessary
• Ability to make independent decisions within a general framework
• Knowledge of the industry and related software
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Civil3D, LDD and Microsoft Office
• Must be fluent in the English language

This will include projects in road construction, airport and railroads. Duties and responsibilities Create 3D models utilizing Carlson software and/or Civil 3D. Monitor and verify field measurements. Use CAD software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Carlson, or similar) to create construction drawings, site plans, grading plans, and other technical documents. Assist senior technicians and engineers in performing field calculations and collecting as-built data from construction sites. Ensure that all collected data is accurately recorded, organized, and stored according to company and industry standards. Stay current with the latest developments in construction technology including CAD tools. Qualifications 1 to 3 years related experience, road construction industry preferred. Proficient in MS Office products, especially Excel and Outlook. Ability to read and interpret plan sets, details, and specifications. Strong organizational and time management skills. Strong attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies. Highly organized: can handle multiple projects concurrently. Working conditions The working conditions for this job entail a combination of working in an office setting on occasion but will be mainly in a field/job site environment. Jobsites will include working outdoors in various weather conditions including extreme heat and cold with exposure to loud noises and equipment with moving parts. May require evening and weekend work on a regular basis during periods of heavy workload. Physical requirements Required to stand for extended periods of time, as well as operate a motor vehicle. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. This individual will support construction surveying operations by assisting in data collection, processing, and analysis using both traditional and advanced technologies, including drones and CAD software.
