JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Penn State Auxiliary & Business Services is seeking a Part-time Bakery Worker.
- Perform various manual functions required in the production of all bakery products
- Operate bread equipment, roll equipment, scales, proof box, ovens, cookie machine, slicers, wrappers, cake depositor, fillers, pie machinery, conveyer tables, and cleaning equipment
- Adjust machines as necessary and process products through machines in the proper sequence
- Follow instructions regarding scaling weights, pan types, and make-up instructions, and keep count of product in various stages of production
- Assist more experienced and/or skilled bakers
- May bake products at the proper temperature for the correct length of time; regulate temperature and humidity controls on proof box; proof yeast products for correct time
- May mix, prepare, combine, season, and/or cook food items prepared in the bakery
- May decorate round, layer, and sheet cakes using a variety of cake decorating tools and icing colors; mix food coloring to produce various colors of icing to decorate cakes
- May scale, mix, and bake proper number and size of batches for specialty dessert products following standardized formulas and procedures; use mixers; record yields
- Perform duties necessary to maintain a clean and orderly bakery

Position Summary:
- Assist in the sanitation of facility/equipment according to company policies and procedures. Follow Good Manufacturing Practices.

- Ensures sanitation standard operating procedures, including master cleaning schedule are followed

- Maintains cleaning materials and processes on a daily basis to maximize sanitation efficiency
- Maintains a 'lean manufacturing' environment that achieves results in the areas of safety, quality, productivity and cost on a daily basis
- Recommends methods for improvement in equipment, operating procedures and working conditions
- Communicates maintenance needs to Sanitation Supervisor and/or Sanitation Crew leader
- Follows policies, procedures and GMP's
- Maintains a clean and organized work environment and participates in housekeeping programs
- Assures departmental records are complete, accurate and legible
- Assures lock out/tag out procedures are followed
- Assures all equipment is accurately re-assembled and ready for production
- Reports any malfunction, missing or broken part to Sanitation Supervisor and/or Sanitation Crew Leader no later than end of shift to assure prompt repair or replacement
- Effectively operates all sanitation equipment and materials
- Meets daily sanitation needs within allotted time
- Assists with other assigned Bakery functions
