Position: BIM Designer - HVAC and Plumbing Location: Alpharetta, GA Job Id: 3262 # of Openings: 2 Job Summary Tebarco Mechanical Corporation (TMC) is seeking a skilled BIM Designer to support our design, coordination, and field teams in delivering top-tier mechanical projects. The BIM Designer will utilize advanced BIM software to create, manage, and coordinate 3D models for HVAC, plumbing, and related systems, ensuring clash-free designs and accurate shop drawings. This role requires collaboration with engineers, project managers, and field superintendents to bridge the gap between office planning and on-site execution. Key Responsibilities 3D Modeling & Coordination : Develop and maintain detailed 3D models of mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, etc.) using software such as Revit, AutoCAD, and Navisworks, ensuring full coordination with other trades. Clash Detection : Perform clash detection and interference checks, generating reports and collaborating with project teams to resolve spatial conflicts before construction. Shop Drawings & Documentation : Produce accurate shop drawings, submittals, and fabrication-ready models to support prefabrication and field installation. Field Integration : Work closely with field superintendents to provide digital construction layouts using tools like Trimble robotic total stations and mobile applications on iPads. Collaboration : Participate in real-time coordination meetings (e.g., via GoToMeeting) and maintain project documentation on TMCs FTP site or client-preferred platforms (Bluebeam, Dropbox, etc.). Standards Compliance : Adhere to TMCs BIM standards and workflows, contributing to continuous improvement of processes and templates. Support Project Teams : Assist engineers and estimators with conceptual designs, cost estimates, and design-build deliverables as needed. Qualifications Experience : Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in BIM modeling or design engineer, preferably in mechanical, HVAC, or plumbing systems. Technical Skills : Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, and Trimble layout tools. Familiarity with Bluebeam, Dropbox, or similar collaboration software is a plus. Education : Associates or Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, CAD Drafting, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered. Knowledge : Strong understanding of mechanical construction processes, trade coordination, and field layout techniques. Soft Skills : Detail-oriented, collaborative, and able to communicate effectively with diverse project stakeholders. Physical Requirements : Ability to visit job sites as needed for surveys or coordination (valid drivers license required). Preferred Qualifications Experience with design-build projects and LEED/Energy Star compliance. Familiarity with 3D scanning or robotic total station layout. Job purpose A CAD Technician provides support to the survey department. The role will work with the field operations team to create 3D models for civil construction projects. This will include projects in road construction, airport and railroads. Models will be utilized in the operation of 3D machine control, construction layout, grade checking, and project material quantification for estimates and project final payments. Duties and responsibilities Create 3D models utilizing Carlson software and/or Civil 3D. Monitor and verify field measurements. Use CAD software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Carlson, or similar) to create construction drawings, site plans, grading plans, and other technical documents. Assist senior technicians and engineers in performing field calculations and collecting as-built data from construction sites. Ensure that all collected data is accurately recorded, organized, and stored according to company and industry standards. Help maintain and calibrate equipment and other field tools to ensure proper functionality. Collaborate with construction teams and project managers to ensure that surveys meet project specifications and timelines. Stay current with the latest developments in construction technology including CAD tools. Qualifications 1 to 3 years related experience, road construction industry preferred. Experience with AutoCad or MicroStation. Civil 3D and Carlson software a bonus. Knowledge of land survey, particularly roadway construction. Proficient in MS Office products, especially Excel and Outlook. Ability to read and interpret plan sets, details, and specifications. Strong organizational and time management skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Solid mathematical skills Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Willing to learn. Strong attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies. Highly organized: can handle multiple projects concurrently. Working conditions The working conditions for this job entail a combination of working in an office setting on occasion but will be mainly in a field/job site environment. Jobsites will include working outdoors in various weather conditions including extreme heat and cold with exposure to loud noises and equipment with moving parts. May require evening and weekend work on a regular basis during periods of heavy workload. Physical requirements Required to stand for extended periods of time, as well as operate a motor vehicle. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Direct reports This position has no direct reports however may need to give general direction to superintendents and project management, and sometimes supporting site foreman.
