Ensures the accurate execution of research protocols in accordance with GCP, HIPAA, and required obligations to patient/subject, PI, Research Team and sponsor (NIH). Interfaces directly with patients/subjects and Principal Investigator in support of clinical trials. Establishes liaisons with relevant parties at the Medical Center that may include Program Managers, Medical Technicians, and Clinical Information Systems and regulatory services. The Program Supervisor supports a growing program of work assisting mainly with day-to-day research activities and data collection.

- Supervise RDA and volunteers to conduct outreach and recruitment for the ADRC.

SUPERVISOR: Behavioral Health Director
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Mental Health Therapist will provide full-time counseling for Behavioral Health Patients. This position will be primarily working with Children, Youth, and Families. The Mental Health Therapist conducts individual, family, and group counseling sessions as well as assessments, case management, outreach, multi-disciplinary team staffing or meetings, and brief crisis interventions during the workday in a medical home, using the Patient-Centered Care Model.
MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Greets community members, patients, and their families using "Sacred Hospitality" and directs them to the required resource person or service
- Responsible for assessing, diagnosing, treating, and counseling patients. Develops recovery treatment plans, in collaboration with the patient and family, that define services, interventions, and optimum patient outcomes.
- Updates recovery plans according to documentation requirements
- Maintain case records containing pertinent, accurate, and current information in compliance with Privacy Act, HIPAA, and RCW/WAC policy, procedures, and rules. Keep records of patient contacts and complete all required EHR entries to ensure that clinical services are billed on the day of service.
- Assists with patient education, case management, support services, and staffing coordination.
- Manages appropriate patient referrals and required documentation.
- Observe and follow required safety protocols, including the general safety of employees and patients.
- Maintaining the appropriately sized caseload to meet productivity expectations
- Attending outpatient staff meetings for agency communication, clinical consultation, and training
- Coordinating the provision of clinical services for patients with other programs and/or medical services, including attending daily huddles, staff meetings, being on Open Access, brief crisis interventions, and consultation.
- Other related responsibilities as assigned.
SKILLS: Excellent customer service and oral and written communication skills are required. Compassion for patients is required. Work well in a team environment. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment, with the ability to anticipate future needs. Basic computer skills required. Behavioral health terminology and accurate spelling ability are required. CPR/AED certified.
QUALIFICATIONS:
This position requires the following qualifications to perform the above duties and carry out the above responsibilities:
- Hold a valid LMHC or LICSW license OR may consider an LMHCA, LICSWA, SWAA, or SWAIC license through the State of Washington with no actions taken against the license. Dually licensed as LMHC/SUD preferred.
- Master's degree in Human Services, Social Services, Counseling, or a related field.
- Experience providing mental health and/or chemical dependency counseling to adults, adolescents, and children.
- Strong computer abilities and proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR).
- Has strong working knowledge of multicultural communities, diverse populations, social service systems, and community resources.
- Prefer Mental Health Specialist designation in the areas of ethnic minority specialist, geriatric specialist, child mental health specialist, etc.
- Has demonstrated strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and conflicting deadlines.
- Has demonstrated the ability to communicate both orally and in writing in an effective and timely manner.
- Has the ability to work in a team environment, both in leadership and peer relationships, and resolve conflict.
- Has demonstrated strong proofreading and editing skills with excellent grammatical skills.
- Can capably operate a variety of office equipment, such as a computer, photocopier, scanner, printer, etc.

Pay range begins at $2,500 annually for AD and 65,500 annually for BSN.
Primarily responsible for providing professional nursing services through home visitation to low-income, low-resource, first-time mothers and during the first two years of the child's life. Focusing on women who have had no previous live births, the nurses implement the Nurse Family Partnership Model, using well developed program protocols to improve women's health-related behaviors, parent's care of their children, and parent's own personal development. Fluency in Spanish and English preferred.
Examples of Duties
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (90% of Time):
- Prepares reports, procedures, protocols, and maintains necessary records of cases assigned and actions taken.
- Provides and receives professional consultation through monthly large group and small teams meetings and meets weekly with supervisor for reflective consultation.
- Interviews clients in clients' current dwelling places. Obtains client health history, assesses intra-, inter-, and extra-personal areas of physiological, psychological, socio-cultural, spiritual, and developmental factors affecting client and family; and inspects dwelling place for safe, healthy habitation, and availability of necessary items for healthy living standards.
- Develops health goals and plans for intervention with clients/families.
- Educates clients and their families concerning health maintenance and bio-psychosocial problems; and recommends treatment according to accepted protocols.
- Performs routine physical assessments on clients and follows a visitation schedule that varies over the two and one-half years the family is in the program.
- Works with families, following a comprehensive program plan that focuses on mother's personal health and personal development, quality of care giving for the infant and toddler, environmental health, preventing unintended subsequent pregnancies, and finding or returning to work.
- Helps family access and use other areas of the Tulsa Health Department, as well as other community agencies, physicians, and human services they may need and follows up on referrals.

Education:
- Associate degree in nursing required.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

- Must maintain THD record confidentiality according to HIPAA regulations.

Demonstrates competency in required psychomotor skills.
Assists in orientation of new staff or students and serve as a resource person and professional role model.
Assumes professional responsibility for current nursing structure, nursing guidelines of care, and policies.
Incorporates PHS mission (VVPS) in care-giving activities.
Supports DON philosophies of professional governance and models of care delivery.
Assumes other leadership roles (i.e. relief charge nurse) as required by the department.
Meets professional requirements as follows:
A. In-service requirements:
1. Age-specific training (care giving, treatment, assessments specific to the age of populations served).
2. Mandatory yearly in-service to include BLS, safety training, bloodborne pathogen/infection/respiratory fit testing training.
B. Performance Standards:
1. Participates in unit/department governance.
2. Adheres to PHS dress code for professionals, including display of ID badge.
3. Documents own continuing education.
4. Maintains positive communication and relationships with patients, peers and other healthcare team members.
5. Participates in quality improvement activities.
6. Maintains a punctual and reliable attendance record.
7. Completes mandatory in-services, competencies and licensure requirements on time.
8. Adheres to safety and equipment policies.
Performs other functions as required.
