Position Profile
Hanson Professional Services Inc. is seeking candidates to fill a civil engineer (EIT) position in our Corpus Christi, Texas, office. As a civil engineer (EIT), you will contribute to the design of infrastructure projects from conception to construction administration. The position will support all elements of civil engineering, including design of civil sitework, roads, utilities, drainage, and various infrastructure projects. You will collaborate with a team of licensed engineers, designers, scientists, and technicians to deliver our diverse and challenging projects.
A Day in the Life of a Civil Designer
- Engineering design, including analysis, preparation of calculations, project layout, development and drafting of details
- Preparation and production of construction plans
- Compiling and modification of specifications
- Developing engineering estimates and quantities for construction
- Coordinate and communicate field construction activities with clients, contractors, and project team members.
- Collaborate with design teams on numerous projects in the local offices and offices throughout the country
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with Autodesk Civil 3D, Excel, Word, and ArcGIS (preferred)
- Effective written and oral communication skills are required, including communicating complex technical concepts visually and in text to peers, clients, and public stakeholders.
- Interest in experiencing a variety of assignments.
- Possess the passion for and the ability to apply innovative planning, design, and data collection and/or processing technologies. Must be able to work independently and as a team member to problem solve and learn new technical skills.
Education/Experience
- A bachelor's degree in civil engineering
- Possess an Engineer in Training (EIT) certification or have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam prior to hire.
- A minimum of 1year of professional work experience in a civil engineering environment is preferred.
Additional Information
- Willingness to travel and work overtime as project demands require.
- Valid driver's license is required.
This is an exempt position. The salary range for this position is $74,000 - $82,000.

Primary Function:
The Engineer III performs detailed phases of design engineering work for a project of moderate size and complexity (e.g., assignment involving a single engineering discipline and limited other disciplines. In this case, this person will be working on our water/wastewater group). The incumbent must be fully competent in all conventional aspects of engineering and be capable of planning and conducting tasks requiring independent judgment in the evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard design engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
Primary Duties:
- Reviews and develops work product meeting the client requirements and develops specifications, drawings, instructions, models, and related documents
- Collaborates with suppliers to design and specify equipment
- Evaluates need for design or planning model changes and makes appropriate recommendations
- Consults with construction personnel concerning design constructability as related to field conditions, sequencing, and scheduling of construction activities
- May be a on a construction site for resident engineering services reviewing construction compliance with engineering design, review of schedules and costs and invoicing (see Construction Management family for growth in construction services)
- Assures that production of drawings, specifications, reports, models and analyses meet scope, schedule, cost, and quality requirements
- May plan, schedule, coordinate, and oversee the work of lower-level engineers, designers or CADD staff who assist with particular projects
- Prepares technical reports and sections of proposals as requested
- Assists the Project Manager with performing services during construction
- May provide direction to and supervision for Engineers I & II or CADD and lower level design staff
- Assure their work has independent Quality Assurance and Quality Control reviews completed
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program or equivalent
- Professional Engineering (PE) license for the state of Texas strongly preferred
- 4-6 years’ related work experience in Water/Wastewater Engineering projects
- Proven proficiency utilizing various computer software packages and automated engineering and design equipment

Zachry Engineering Corporation (ZEC) is seeking a Civil/Structural Engineer II to work out of our Corpus Christi Design Center. The ideal candidate will perform engineering duties in planning, designing, and supporting the construction phase of structures, ensuring that they are built in accordance with the plans and specifications.
Responsibilities
- Support with planning, preparing and development of detailed design and specifications for major and complex structures, systems and equipment.
- Perform site visits and project walk downs requiring climbing and as-built information gathering. This may require working with surveying equipment and other measuring tools.
- Design foundations for heavy process structures and equipment, dynamic and rotating equipment, along with industrial facility expansions.
- Design structural steel open process structures, pipe racks, modifications to existing facilities, and modular structures.
- Design minor civil site plans for modifications to existing facilities with an understanding of storm water management, underground piping design, and in-plant roads / traffic planning.
- Participate in project planning and preparation of budgets and estimates.
- Serve in a technical capacity to provide solutions to complex engineering problems within the Civil/ Structural department.
- Work with client engineers to develop design compatible with client requirements.
- Coordinate with the project group regarding the job(s) they are leading. Provide the necessary reporting and project controls methods to keep projects on track.
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering with a focus on Structural Engineering
- Minimum of 2 years of work-related industry experience
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Working to be licensed (FE & PE)
- Excellent presentation and communication skills required
- Proficient with Civil Engineering Software (STAAD Pro, RISA)
