Main Ingredients of the Job
Safely drive trucks to customers and meet scheduled customer delivery times
Carefully unload products from the trailer with a two-wheeler, pallet jack, or by hand and place in designated customer storage areas
Verify accuracy of delivery with customers and obtain proper signatures
Handle collections and payments from customers when applicable
Professionally perform customer service responsibilities to enhance our client experience
Perform all pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspection
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift/carry/push/pull 20 to 80+ lbs. of product repetitively during each shift required
Comfortable driving and working in inclement weather conditions with frequent stops (10+ per shift) required
What You Bring to the Table
Register to the FMCSA Clearinghouse*
Must be at least 21 years of age
Must have valid CDL Class A issued by the state of legal residence with necessary endorsements and DOT qualifications
Minimum of six months commercial driving experience (any industry) OR three months commercial driving experience in the food and/or beverage delivery industry required
Ability to operate manual transmission preferred; may be required in specific locations
Must be able to read and communicate in the English language - able to hold a conversation, to understand highway traffic signs and signals, to respond to official inquiries, and to enter information on reports and records.

Compensation depends on relevant experience, specific skills, function, geographic location, and other factors as applicable by law. The expected base rate for this role is between $24 - $27 per hour.
As applicable, this role will also receive overtime compensation, retention bonus, component pay.

About us:
Walters is the premier environmental services provider in the Twin Cities metropolitan area providing waste and recycling collection to the public and private sectors since 1988. About the role:
Our Commercial Swing Drivers substitute for the drivers of open routes, supporting drivers to complete routes, and provides other operational support as directed by the Operations Manager, which may include training of new drivers, or participating in routing projects. Drivers operate heavy-duty trucks with front or rear end load lift attachment providing the pick up service of containers filled with waste or recyclable material. Containers may weigh in excess of 1000 pounds and at times require drivers to maneuver wheeled containers to a pick up stage area. Driver will transport the material to a disposal, transfer or recycle facility when trucks reach legal load capacity.
Responsibilities:
- Drivers navigates high traffic and congested roadways, driveways, alleyways, and lots. Highly skilled backing maneuvers are essential too successfully perform this job.
- Required work hours may be up to the legal limits allowed and may require weekend on holiday weeks.
- Drivers must be able to read and understand a map, complete daily driver logs as well as pre and post trip truck inspections.
- This position will require you to work in all weather conditions including extreme hot or cold, wet or dry conditions.
- Positions and returns containers on the customer's property in a manner that ensures lids are properly replaced. enclosure doors are closed and secured, and containers do not block driveway entrances or traffic.
- Completely dumps all containers and leaves the customer's location clean and free of debris.
- Performs all duties as scheduled by Operations Manager or Dispatch and assisting other drivers as directed to meet customer needs.
- Notifies Operations Manager or Dispatch of service interruptions, including blocked containers, closed lots, streets, alleyways or potential safety hazards.
- Communicates customer requests to Dispatch or Operations Manager.
- Class A or B CDL License
- With no air brake restriction.
- Clean Driving Record
- Mapping Skills
- 18 years of age or older & eligible to work in the US
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs frequently and up to 100 lbs occasionally, bending, twisting, repetitive motion, and sitting for long periods of time.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen, DOT health evaluation, and physical assessment.
- This is a safety-sensitive position subject to drug testing requirements in compliance with 49 CFR Part 382, this does include marijuana testing.
