**Overview**
Reporting directly to the Vice President of Clinical Development, this individual plays a key role in development of data management strategies including outsourcing, oversight and risk-based data management strategies, standards and processes. The Associate Director, Data Management will bring deep knowledge of industry best practices, regulatory requirements, and systems and processes that support efficient and compliant clinical data practices.
**Responsibilities**
- Leads and manages all clinical data management (DM) activities including database build, cleaning, reconciliation, and locking activities across multiple clinical trials to ensure timely, accurate, and complete data collection and analyses.
- Develops and implements data management strategies, processes, and standards in alignment with Good Clinical Practices (GCP) and applicable regulatory guidelines (e.g., FDA, EMA, ICH).
- Oversees the review of key data management documents and operational activities (eg. data management plans (DMPs), case report forms (CRFs), CRF completion instructions, data validation specifications, and edit checks) outsourced to CROs ensuring adherence to cost, timeline, and data quality requirements.
- Participates in clinical vendor selection for external DM vendors including responsibility for review of DM sections of proposals, budgets, statements of work and change orders.
- Pilots and implements available digital/AI solutions to improve study efficiency and quality of data collection.
- Collaborates closely with Clinical Research Operations, Medical, Pharmacovigilance, and Biostatistics to ensure seamless data flow and data review leading to clean datasets for analysis.
- Ensures storage of all DM documents in the trial master file to support inspection.
- Mentors junior staff and contributes to departmental growth and development.
**Qualifications**
- Bachelor's degree in life sciences, health informatics, or a related field (Master's or higher degree preferred).
- Minimum of 8 years of clinical data management experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or CRO industry, including at least 3 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- In-depth knowledge of CDM processes, regulatory standards (FDA, EMA, ICH-GCP), and clinical data standards (e.g., CDISC, SDTM).
- Hands-on experience with EDC systems (e.g., Medidata Rave, Veeva, Zelta), coding dictionaries (e.g., MedDRA, WHO Drug), and data visualization tools a plus.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and vendors simultaneously.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Experience supporting regulatory submissions is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and prioritize multiple projects and programs, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with business strategy.
  • Identify, monitor, and mitigate risks, bottlenecks, and inefficiencies throughout project and data lifecycles.
  • Develop and oversee processes for data risk management, including protection, retention, storage, use, and quality.
  • Build and maintain relationships with data providers, consumers, and leaders across Business, Technology, Risk, and Control functions.
  • Collaborate with technology teams, business stakeholders, and various programs to gather requirements, develop solutions, and ensure compliance with firm-wide standards.
  • Contribute to the development, implementation, and enhancement of the firmwide Data Risk Management Standard and review policies for CDAO alignment.
  • Manage forums and stakeholder meetings, including preparing materials and soliciting agenda items.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, provide regular updates to senior management, and escalate issues as needed.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Bachelor's degree with 5-7+ years in data management, governance, or analytics within financial services/fintech; 2+ years in compliance/risk data roles
  • Deep understanding of data management, governance, and lifecycle; advanced product development and analytics knowledge; skilled in large data sets, SQL, ETL; experience with BI tools (Sigma, Tableau, QlikSense, Alteryx, Cognos)
  • Excellent analytical and quantitative problem-solving; quick learner with strong attention to detail; strategic thinker using data for scenario evaluation and strategy development.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring abilities
  • Effective communicator with technical and non-technical audiences; excellent verbal/written skills; confident and mature in presenting and expressing viewpoints.
  • Solid knowledge of data, AI, and emerging tech; skilled in conflict management and facilitation; strong project management, process, and business analysis abilities.

Job Description
The Manager, Material Master Data Management will lead and guide the activities in shaping the strategic direction of master data management (MDM) within the Supply Chain organization. Provide leadership by designing, creating, and maintaining optimal processes and procedures. Build Master Data modeling expertise to analyze and validate gathered data, apply error analysis techniques to effectively estimate future product demands and better meet customer needs. Provides tactical and operational leadership for the planning and execution process and life cycle management oversight through a team of Master Data Coordinators and Master Data Analysts. Responsible that Material Master Data setup is as per highest possible quality standards and supported with relevant metric in the operational systems SAP S4 and JDA to support planning and execution. Develop, maintain, and publish reports for Key Performance Indicators, data accuracy, validation, and ad-hoc reports. Ensure the interpretation, measurement, and accuracy of any data used within the Material Master Data and Supply Chain processes.
Seeking someone with SAP Material Master experience with the ability to support technical discussions with the SAP BTS team on requirements & support the team with basic SQL knowledge. The Manager will also be expected to write SQL queries as needed.
This role will be 3 days onsite in North Chicago, IL/2 days remote (100% remote is not available for this role)
Responsibilities:
+ Manage a team of Material Master Data analysts and coordinators for effective master data management (MDM) operational activity and to ensure compliance. Builds positive culture and develops the Coordinators and Analysts while overseeing the team.
+ Develop and implement the global standard operating procedures (SOPs) to streamline and enhance the lifecycle management of Material Master Data.
+ Utilize Master Data Governance tools to apply appropriate forecasting models and foster standardization of Supply Chain processes in SAP from product introduction to discontinuation.
+ Define and oversee SAP master data requirements for new product financial flows, ensuring compliance and acting as the MDM authority.
+ Develop and define data-driven strategies by collaborating with Business Data Owners to enhance data quality and optimize data analytics capabilities.
+ Proactively identify and mitigate critical data issues to safeguard business continuity and advance data integrity.
+ Supports centralized master data operations for creation and maintenance of enterprise master data elements, meeting global business requirements.
+ Provide data analysis to support Affiliate, Operations, and Executive level processes
+ Examine, interpret and report data metrics and KPIs to deliver strategic insights of analytical initiatives to stakeholders Interpret.

Qualifications
+ Bachelor's Degree required, with preferred fields in statistics, business, management, science, or economics.
+ At least 8 years prior experience in one or more of the following areas required: Statistical Modeling, Operations, Supply Chain Management, Sales and Operations Planning. At least 3 years of Master Data management experience in a global Supply Chain environment. At least 3 years of people leadership experience, managing small to large teams.

Coordinates modification of records for management control. Establishes change orders and prepares for change authorization and documentation by company and subcontractor. Reviews and analyzes released engineering change data and coordinates changes with engineering, quality, support, manufacturing, and engineering data control activities. The successful candidate will use their keen sense of urgency, multi-tasking abilities and initiative to keep projects on schedule.

**Basic Qualifications for Sr. Principal Configuration Management/Data Management Analyst:**
- Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of experience working in a corporate engineering or manufacturing setting or a Master's degree and 6+ years working in a corporate engineering or manufacturing setting
- Must be computer literate and proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
