Job Summary
The College of Liberal Arts is seeking an Academic Advising Specialist. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE ), 12-month, professional faculty position.
The Academic Advising Specialist will provide undergraduate students with advising toward retention and degree/qualification completion. These advising efforts may include orientation/supporting student transitions, academic success strategies, goal identification, course and experiential learning planning, and career considerations for Oregon State University's diverse population of students.
The advisor monitors student progress and engages the student in conversation around strategies and resources to enhance their academic experience and works to resolve experienced difficulties. The advisor works as part of a team to achieve established goals in collaboration with representatives of campus services and community partners as appropriate, and they communicate with other University units regarding undergraduate academic requirements. The advisor may participate in various University, College, and unit-sponsored orientations and events, may also participate in prospective student visits and recruiting events, and engages in professional development activities for advisors. The advisor works with student information systems and various data files and sources and prepares a wide variety of reports using multiple tools. The advisor keeps abreast of University and unit policies, procedures, rules, and regulations to assist students in meeting academic requirements. In addition to direct academic advising, advisors may support other areas such as assessment, career exploration, early warning/proactive interventions, international student advising, connection to university resources, and working with students in academic difficulty. All advisor positions support the primary mission of the University, the academic units, and academic services.

Key Responsibilities
80-90% Academic Advising
Direct work with students/preparation/file review/notes/record keeping. Guides student decision-making in coursework for general education, major/minor specific, elective, and qualification coursework.
+ Provide advising that helps students achieve timely degree completion and connect their skills, abilities, and interests with their academic and career goals.
+ Assist students with academic program planning, course selection and registration, resource connections, and exploration of experiential learning opportunities, while working to understand the individual needs, goals, and backgrounds of all advisees
+ Monitor academic progress of assigned caseload of undergraduate students.
+ Participate in proactive advising interventions and outreach to students from diverse backgrounds.
+ Clarify and interpret relevant policies and procedures to assist students in making academic planning decisions.
+ Assist students in understanding and applying academic regulations and requirements.
+ Help students navigate and utilize university resources and services that support undergraduate education and student success
+ Meet with students on academic warning and academic probation and conduct proactive outreach as needed.
+ Create and/or present student workshops on a variety of advising and student success topics as needed or requested.
+ Maintain accurate information and resources for students (e.g. sample-plans, website updates, advising materials, transfer guides, etc.) through effective use of recommended technologies
+ Maintain accurate electronic notes and records of advising appointments and student progress in OSU's electronic record keeping systems.

+ Identify and participate in trainings and professional engagement opportunities to maintain currency relative to the position and support growth.
+ Seek university trainings and local, regional, and national meetings, as appropriate.

+ Advisor may be assigned specific responsibilities to support and contribute to student services in a targeted/specialty area. + Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
+ Demonstrated experience in a higher education student services setting, or related experience advising, counseling, or mentoringindividuals in other settings (i.e., K-12 environments, non-profits, etc.).

Working Conditions / Work Schedule

- Leadership & Strategy

We are seeking an Academic Advising Navigator who will support the Center for Student Success with retention and student degree completion efforts. The Academic Advising Navigator will respond to inquiries from students, faculty, and other campus administrators; maintain standards of confidentiality and privacy in accordance with the College, FERPA, student records, and any other protected documentation. Other tasks include updating program materials, managing calendars, scheduling meetings and events, preparing, and maintaining meeting minutes. This position reports to the Assistant Dean of Advisement.
This is a part-time, hourly position.
Example of Duties:
- Greet visitors, answer, and route phone calls to serve the needs of students, academic advising staff, and faculty; maintain and organize college resource fliers; assist with maintaining office supplies and equipment including inventory, distribution, and requisitions.
- Assist with student registration; provide information to students regarding scheduling and advising; and assists students to find appropriate resources at the college.
- Train students on how to navigate the student portal and other PCCC IT resources.
- Provide outreach to students using email, phone, video, or in-person meetings.
- Use relevant college resources and refer students to services based on individual student needs.

Hunter College seeks a visionary and collaborative leader to serve as the inaugural Manager of the Transfer Student Success Center (TSSC). Reporting to the Associate Dean for Student Affairs/Academic Support, this individual will manage a new campus-wide center dedicated to the recruitment, onboarding, and retention of transfer students, particularly through their first year.
The Manager will support the center's infrastructure, oversee a team of cross-trained staff, and promote transfer student advocacy and engagement. The ideal candidate will bring a student-centered mindset, knowledge of transfer pathways (particularly CUNY and non-CUNY pipelines), and a strong commitment to equity, inclusion, and student success.In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, the Academic Advising Manager will be responsible for the following duties:
+ Support the development of programs and operational processes tailored to transfer students from both CUNY and non-CUNY institutions, addressing their unique needs and transitions

Position Summary
Academic Success Coordinators (ASCs)/Advisors provide academic advising, support, and outreach to undergraduate students. Through individual appointments, group settings, and a variety of programs, they guide and support students in the process of transitioning to and through the university. ASCs/Advisors help students track their academic progress and degree progression, explore majors, minors, and other opportunities, and develop successful academic behaviors. Individuals in these positions work with individuals and units across campus and are members of the ASC & Advising Network.
This is an open posting for ASC /Advisor positions that may become available throughout the year. The projected positions might include work in Exploratory Studies, or they may be housed within an academic college/department.
Required Job Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree plus 2 or more years of professional experience with direct student support services in a higher education setting.
OR
+ Master's degree plus 1 or more years of professional experience working in education, programs or organizations focused on student success, career counseling or coaching, enrollment services, advising, student affairs, retention, or graduation efforts.
+ Demonstrated commitment to CSUsLand-Grant Mission ( of access and opportunity.
Preferred Job Qualifications
+ Demonstrated experience in coaching others through educational goal attainment or decision-making processes.
+ Demonstrated understanding of student development and awareness of the transition issues of students entering and progressing through higher education. Specific experience working with under-represented students - first generation, ethnically diverse, military veteran, non-traditional aged, student parents, disabled students, etc. - preferred in this role.
+ Demonstrated experience developing, facilitating, and evaluating student success intervention programs & strategies for students.
+ Demonstrated experience facilitating groups in settings such as new student seminars, workshops, new student orientation sessions, and/or similar programs.
+ Self-motivated team player with demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, manage their time, and thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
