SUMMARY
The Fleet Electronics Technician is responsible for auditing preventive maintenance inspections and repairs on various types of electronic equipment on Access' fleet. The position will serve as a secondary liaison with automotive equipment vendors for new technology and warranty issues. The position requires the technician to be proficient in the most complex and complicated aspects of overall fleet electronics. By training or experience, the Fleet Electronics Technician must demonstrate competence in the performance of electronic equipment on multiple vehicle platforms.
In addition, they must be capable of providing information to and communicating with Access' contractors and their staff, Access management, and equipment manufacturers. Work will be conducted both in the office and at contractor shop locations (six locations in Los Angeles County), as well as at vehicle manufacturing sites which could be local or out of the area. Position requires extensive travel in Los Angeles County and surrounding area, with approximately 75% of the time in the field and 25% of the time in the office.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Receives direct supervision from the Fleet Administrator. May receive administrative direction from the Senior Manager of Fleet Design & Maintenance.

Examples of Duties
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Plan and coordinate tasks and activities of fleet electronics auto repair.
- Ensure proper and timely maintenance on all vehicle-based technology/electronics on agency owned vans, cutaways and support vehicles.
- Collaborate with chassis manufacturers and second stage builders on vehicle design, modification and assembly.
- Perform pre-delivery inspections of new agency-owned vehicles in and outside of Los Angeles County.
- Ability to photo-document pre-delivery inspections and upload files to a central location.
- Audit Access' contractor's on-going maintenance of vehicle-based technology/electronics and assist contractors with troubleshooting of equipment failures.
- Current contracted service provider technicians do most of the day-to-day maintenance on the electronics in agency owned vehicles. Oversight is needed of Access' contractor's repairs and equipment installations to ensure uniformity of procedures and the quality of work performed.
- Participate in quarterly audits that may occur outside of normal working hours.
- Participate in transit asset management (TAM) annual vehicle inventory including documenting mileage and exterior photos of rolling stock (vehicles) at time of inspection.
- Coordinate the return of equipment that fails while under the warranty period.
- Monitor inventory control of spare parts.
- Investigate and resolve conflicts between original equipment electronics systems and/or third party, add-on electronics systems. Resolution may require collaborating with outside engineering firms and third party equipment suppliers.

- Perform quality checks of installation and repair of onboard video camera systems.
- Ensure systems work in sync with other components in the vehicle and all command information from the OBDII system in the OEM chassis.
- Solve problems or equipment operation conflicts by analyzing information and evaluating results, contacting equipment manufacturer's technical departments to choose the best solution; after resolving issues, pass this information on to contractor technicians and managers responsible for the daily operations of Access supplied vehicles in a written format.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Must possess vocational or technical school certification in an automotive program with courses in vehicle electronic systems and technology. Training with Dodge vehicles or Mopar parts is desirable.
Five years of related automotive electronics technician experience or equivalent is required.

Long-Term Disability

This plan pays an amount equal to 66 2/3% of the employee's monthly earnings, subject to a maximum amount per month, to the age of 65 after an approved waiting period (usually 90 days of disability). Life Insurance

Using sound engineering principles, this engineer will interface with cross functional groups (internal and external) to ensure robust, airworthy designs are attained which meet budget, schedule and internal requirements and goals. This position will be responsible for participating in and leading improvement activities at a group and/or company level.
