Job Description
The inaugural Executive Director of Lifelong Learning at Sarah Lawrence College will steward the expansion of innovative non-degree programs designed to serve the needs of learners at all levels. From its founding in 1926, the College's mission has focused learning across the lifespan, from the littlest learners in the Early Childhood Center through professional degrees and continuing education. The Executive Director will continue this tradition by overseeing existing programs and bringing new audiences to the College through newly designed educational offerings addressing the needs of a changing workforce and serving learners at all levels.
Essential Duties Summary
Reporting directly to the Provost, the person in this inaugural position will envision and lead the development, implementation, and ongoing assessment of non-degree education across the College. The Executive Director will supervise several long-standing programs, including the Center for the Urban River, Child Development Institute, Early Childhood Center, and Writing Institute, while developing new initiatives in alignment with Sarah Lawrence's strategic goals and priorities. We seek candidates with strategic, entrepreneurial orientation; an educational approach that embraces students of all backgrounds; a thorough understanding of innovative and effective practices; and related experience in innovative educational delivery. The ideal candidate will have both educational expertise and business acumen to boost support to existing programs and to help launch new, effective programs.
Working closely with the Provost, as well as with a number of offices across campus, the Director of Lifelong Learning will develop and expand online and in-person non-degree programming to serve learners at all levels across the lifespan.

- Design, continue to develop, and launch innovative educational programs for diverse audiences, including K-12 and professional development sectors.
- Align educational offerings with the College's mission and standards, while ensuring profitability and scalability.
- Provide primary oversight of all SLC non-degree/non-credit educational programs and their directors.
- Monitor the success of programs using quantitative and qualitative metrics, and continuously improve offerings based on data-driven insights.
- Engage with external partners, industry experts, and educators to ensure programs are relevant, innovative, and competitive.
- Collaborate with a number of offices across campus, including finance, operations, and marketing, to ensure the educational programs are effectively positioned and delivered.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree (Master's Degree, preferred)
- 5+ years of experience in educational program leadership/development
- Demonstrated ability to lead/design programs that respond to market considerations and achieve learning outcomes, coupled with financial stability and program growth
- Comfort with presenting information in a variety of settings, including with governmental/industry partners
- Excellent communication, project management, and leadership skills
- Entrepreneurial orientation and demonstration of data-driven decision-making

**Responsibilities:**
GENERAL PURPOSE:
The Associate Director of Lifelong Learning & Career Programs supports strategic plans and executes responsibilities in three key programmatic areas including lifelong learning, career services and benefits and services. Alongside the Director of Lifelong Learning and Career Programs, they will help develop goals in support of these areas.
In this role, the Associate Director will serve as a key member of the Alumni Relations and Constituent Engagement team and have direct responsibility for programs within Lifelong Learning and Career Programs. They will serve as the strategic liaison to the various career centers throughout the University and coordinate volunteer engagement needs, recruitment and tracking across Advancement for student-based engagement.
The Associate Director will manage virtual student-alumni career networking programs to help students explore career paths by connecting with University of Rochester alumni through signature services such as the University-wide mentorship program and virtual programs. They will support regionally based career events such as Rochester Connects.
Extensive relationship building, customer service, career platform technology management, and data tracking and analysis are essential to program outcome success.
Travel is required for this role.
**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS**
**Career Services & Programs**
+ Develop and execute virtual online resources to expand alumni and student professional development opportunities.
+ Develop and manage career services and programs offered during our signature University events including Meliora Weekend and VIP Leadership Conference.
+ In collaboration with Alumni Relations team members support our annual regionally based career networking events.
+ Oversee virtual technology platform management including vendor relationships, advancement project management of implementation, marketing, budget, data input, reporting and analysis.
**Volunteer & Relationship Management**
+ Serve as the primary point of contact for managing alumni career volunteers including serving as liaison for on campus career centers, identification, recruitment, data tracking and analysis, stewardship.
+ Manage the Careers workgroup of the Alumni Board who serves as a resource for the Gwen M. Greene Career Center.
+ Work closely with key vendors on collaborations.
+ Meet with 20 constituents each fiscal year to increase engagement and identify, recruit and steward volunteers and mentees.
+ Manage partnership with on campus partners including the Gwen M. Greene Center, Benet Career Center, the Graduate Education Office.
**Lifelong Learning**
+ Support Lifelong Learning programs including Experience Rochester virtual and in person faculty webinars and lectures.
+ Serve as the campus liaison for Department and Centers Meliora Weekend programming, coordinating programming submissions, strategic priorities aligned with the Meliora Weekend overall and communications between department and centers and Alumni Relations.
**Alumni Benefits and Services**
+ Manage and promote the on-campus resources available to alumni.
+ Benchmark with other institutions to develop our benefits and services program that aligns with industry best practices. Access and report upon impact and value of all benefits and services, determine short- and long-term strategies to improve the program, and implement improvements as needed.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
+ Bachelor's degree required.

+ Demonstrated experience in event planning and program development.
