**Responsibilities**
The Department of Radiation Oncology at Mayo Clinic in Arizona is seeking a visionary and accomplished leader to serve as **Division Chair of Medical Physics** . This is a unique opportunity to lead a world-class medical physics program within a premier academic medical center known for its patient-centered approach, integrated multidisciplinary care, and commitment to innovation.
As Division Chair, you will lead our group of 18 MS and PhD staff members along with 4 physics assistants and 4 medical physics residents. Treating on average 160 patients/day, the department has 4 Varian TrueBeams, 4 Hitachi proton gantries, 3 CT simulators and ongoing programs in SRS/SRT/SBRT, proton beam therapy, HDR, GRID, TBI, TSET and IORT. The successful candidate will work closely with the Chair of the Department and with senior leadership in building the education, research and clinical profile of the department.

**Qualifications**
The ideal candidate is a recognized leader in medical physics who brings:

**Job Summary**
The Medical Physics Specialist 1 helps maintain compliance with regulations for imaging equipment and processes. Functions as the liaison and first line of communication between radiation safety staff and physicians, staff, and patients.
**Essential Functions of the Role**
+ Works with the Radiation Safety Physics Staff to ensure that radiation safety and image quality standards are maintained.
+ Arranges for calibration of radiation monitoring instruments. Records calibrations and dates in computer and maintains calibrations certificates.
+ Able to conduct performance evaluations of patient imaging equipment.
+ Maintains appropriate, accurate, and complete documentation to ensure regulatory compliance in an organized and timely manner.
+ Communicates as needed and in a timely manner with the personnel monitoring vendor to handle routine issues.
+ Notifies the Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) immediately of any unusual exposure events.
+ Performs measurements of patient and public exposure levels. Ensures regulatory standards are met and doses minimized under a licensed medical physicist's direction.

Research or scholarship responsibilities may include actively and independently contributing to departmental research. We have an opening for a hybrid research and radiotherapy physics residency position in the Department of Medical Physics, with a flexible start date for the right candidate. This is a hybrid residency program in which a two-year grant-funded research project is followed by a two-year clinical residency in radiotherapy physics. Those who enter the 4-year program without CAMPEP credentials will be enrolled in a CAMPEP Certificate program with full tuition support from the department. You will be required to complete a Certificate program during the first two years of the program before entering clinical training. Research for this position will be conducted under Dr. Xiang Li , Ph.D. , DABR , on a project titled "Deep Learning Empowered Target Decomposition Technique for M arkerless I ntrafraction M otion M onitoring . **Position Summary**
At Stony Brook Medicine, a **TH Medical Physicist** is a valuable member of our team, who provides clinical services to our patient population. The overall responsibility of this position is to provide physics support to the hospital. This support is concentrated in clinical services, consultation, research, and teaching. Provide physics services as mandated by regulatory agencies including the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Health Care Organizations, Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Food and Drug Administration, and State Radiation Control agencies. Qualified candidates will demonstrate superior patient care and possess outstanding communication skills while adhering to our high standard of excellence.
**Duties of a Medical Physicist** **may include the following but are not limited to:**
+ Ensure that special projects (i.e., patient exposure evaluations, shielding designs, shielding evaluations) are preformed accurately and in a timely fashion.
+ Conduct all periodic QC as assigned by the Chief of Clinical Medical Physics.
+ Ensure that a preliminary report of required action is filed with appropriate service organizations and the Chief Medical Physicist in a timely fashion following QA assessment.
+ Reviews corrective action taken by service and, after satisfactory completion, generates a final QC memo to all pertinent parties. Data and reports are meticulous and filed in the Office of the Chief Medical Physicist in accordance with section policies.
+ Ensure there is a verbal update of ongoing projects. Reports are filed in a timely fashion in accordance with section policies. Special project are completed in a timely manner.
+ Maintains professional growth through published papers, presentations, graduate studies, attendance at professional meetings and maintenance of current New York State Department of Education, Medical Health Physics, Nuclear Medicine Physics, Diagnostic Radiological Physics and ABR Certification in Diagnostic Radiological Physics.
+ All other duties as assigned.
**Qualifications**
**Required** **:**
+ Master's Degree in Physical Science.
+ American Board of Radiology certified in diagnostic radiology passed Part 1 of the ABR certification exam and become Board Certified within two years of hire.
+ Eligible for NYS Medical Physics license. (limited license is acceptable for up to 24 months)
+ Two years plus experience in evaluation of diagnostic radiology equipment. This experience can be gained as a resident in CAMPEP residency program.
+ Must become certified under MQSA to perform mammographic (Full-Field Digital and Digital Breast Tomosynthesis) within two years of hire.
**Preferred** **:**
+ Ph.D. in Physical Science
+ Two or more years' experience as a diagnostic medical physicist

Job Description
The Radiation Dosimetry Core and MRI Physics group at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) offer a postdoctoral research fellow or research associate position in MRI-guided radiotherapy. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Grace Tang, a leader in the development of MLC tracking techniques.
The main goal of the position is to develop real-time MRI-guided radiotherapy technology via MLC tracking on the MR-linac system for tumors affected by continuous motion. The work involves building machine control interface, experimental validations, and clinical feasibility testing. .
The Department of Medical Physics consists of over eighty faculty physicists and computer scientists plus support staff working on various physical problems related to diagnosis and therapy for cancer, in partnership with radiologists, radiation oncologists, and other medical professionals. Medical Physicists in the diagnostic imaging physics track are actively engaged in several research programs that include molecular, MR and CT imaging as well as the new radionuclide therapies called theranostics. Examples include advanced MR acquisition techniques, motion correction, MR fingerprinting, artificial intelligence, and deep learning for image reconstruction in all imaging modalities. MSK is a World leader in imaging and theranostic research and supports one of the largest pre-clinical small animal core facilities in the United States that includes MR, PET, SPECT, CT, ultrasound imaging equipment that provides a conduit for the translation of experimental techniques into clinical trials. One Elekta Unity MR-linac system, 9 Varian linacs, and 2 ETHOS systems at the Manhattan Campus of MSKCC.
Additional highlights include grant-funded research in quantitative MRI, hypoxia imaging, imaging drug delivery, and radionuclide dosimetry. Research and development in radiotherapy physics include the use of artificial intelligence for improved imaging and target localization, real-time tumor tracking, tissue segmentation, treatment planning, and adaptive radiotherapy.
Diagnostic, Nuclear and MRI Medical Physicists play a key role in supporting all imaging devices throughout the MSK enterprise, maintaining and harmonizing acquisition protocols, troubleshooting image artifacts, and maintaining equipment accreditation and regulatory compliance. We support well over 500 imaging instruments that include 40 CT scanners, 21 MR scanners, and 17 PET scanners and work with radiologists in the selection of new imaging equipment and the implementation of new imaging techniques.
Since diagnostic images are at the core of cancer diagnosis and response assessment, we have a strong philosophy to ensure that all imaging equipment throughout the network is operating at the optimum performance, per the overall mission of MSKCC to advance the state of cancer care.
