Job Description
Under the general supervision of the Clinical Technology Manager and Chief Medical Imaging Engineer, performs duties pertaining to acquisition, installation, calibration, repair and maintenance of medical imaging equipment.
Essential Responsibilities:
+ Advises on specifications for purchases on new medical imaging equipment and recommends replacement of obsolete or irreparable equipment. Provides new product evaluation as requested.
+ Consults and collaborates with key stakeholders to prepare for installation and deployment of medical imaging equipment and systems, including but not limited to electrical, mechanical, gas, pneumatics, software, networking and integration to data/information retention systems. Performs or coordinates assembly and installation of medical equipment, including but not limited to electrical, mechanical, gas, pneumatics, software, networking and integration to data/information retention systems. Prepares periodic maintenance instructions for medical equipment. Performs required safety inspection and performance assurance on new medical equipment. Assess medical equipment and systems for compliance with HIPAA storage and security policies. Completes documentation for entry into the centralized maintenance management system. Completes and maintains system function, configuration and support documentation.
+ Directly performs or schedules with outside service vendors the performance assessment and preventive maintenance on a variety of equipment per established procedures. Documents work performed.
+ Analyzes and corrects malfunctions on a variety of medical equipment systems. Analysis and corrective methods include but are not limited to observation of front panel and controls; interpretation of block and schematic diagrams; utilization of appropriate test equipment; replacement of components, PC boards, sub-systems and software; adjustment and restoration of network connectivity and integration to data/information retention systems; calibration and adjustment to manufacturers specifications; working with clinical personnel to correct operator based problems; documentation of work performed including that provided by outside service.
+ Performs or coordinates remediation action on medical equipment safety and recall hazard alerts.
+ Performs investigative evaluation of medical equipment involved in patient and employee incidents / accidents. Documents findings and reports as required.
+ Provides training and assigns work orders to third party service vendors and student trainees. Completes documentation of action taken in the centralized maintenance management system.
+ Performs or coordinates the decommissioning of medical equipment per established policies.
+ Assists, as required, with staff in-service education. Cross train new employees on use on test equipment, department procedure, and medical system support.
+ Education - Develops and implements a plan for professional growth. Maintains current with advancing technology, including Kaiser provided training as required to perform duties.
+ Performs miscellaneous duties as directed in support of the need of the organization.
Basic Qualifications:
Experience
+ Minimum two (2) years of experience servicing medical imaging equipment and CRES certification OR minimum four (4) years of experience servicing medical imaging equipment.
Education
+ AAS degree in biomedical equipment service technology, electronic service technology, or computer service technology from an accredited program or military biomedical equipment training.
License, Certification, Registration
+ Drivers License (in location where applicable) required at hire
Additional Requirements:
+ Proficient knowledge in the operation and maintenance of medical imaging systems.
+ Must be able to demonstrate proficient use of test equipment used in servicing medical imaging systems.
+ Must have knowledge of standards and codes applicable to medical medical imaging systems.
+ Proficient in the use of testing instruments, devices, simulators, and tools associated with servicing electronic equipment
+ Mathematical ability, attention to detail (e.g. organization, prioritization, proofing), concentration, and alertness.
+ Reading, writing, and fluently speaking and, understanding English.
+ Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in the following areas: customer service, interpersonal relations, adaptability, change management, decision making, oral communication, problem solving, project management, quality management, results orientation, teamwork, and written communication.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Background servicing medical imaging equipment with emphasis on multi modality and multi manufacturer experience and years of service.
+ Experience servicing computer client-server systems.
+ Computer networking certification

The MRI Technologist performs MRI examinations following protocols under the direct or indirect supervision of the Clinical Supervisor, Lead Technologist, Radiologists, Residents, or Clinical Physicians.The MRI Technologist promotes OHSU’s mission statement by delivering high quality, cost effective, family-oriented service. This position helps to create a collaborative environment by integrating education, research and clinical leadership. MRI Technologists work with infant, pediatric, adult and geriatric patients. Function/Duties of Position Imaging: Provides quality images, using optimal skills and knowledge of equipment. Performs quality diagnostic studies with accuracy and efficiency. Positionspatients for MRI examinations with a high regard for their safety, care, andcomfort. Prescreens patients and all related personnel in regard to MRI compatibilitystandards for safe entry into the static magnetic field. If there is any questionregarding MRI compatibility, a Radiologist shall be consulted. Understand the differences in Implant Compatibility between field strengths. Job Related Knowledge,Skills and Abilities(Competencies): Must have and maintain knowledge in the understanding of cross-sectional anatomy. **What You Bring**
+ **Education:** Accredited School of Radiologic Technology Required, or equivalent education and/or experience as required for obtaining certification/license/registration as required by State for clinical practice

**Position Details**
+ **Schedule:** Friday-Monday, 10:30 PM - 7:00 AM
+ **Status:** Part-Time (0.8 FTE)
+ **Hourly Rate:** $44.97 - $6.97. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc.
+ **Differentials:** 5.00/hr night shift | 1.00/hr weekend shift
**What You'll Do:**
+ Perform routine and specialized MRI procedures with precision and compassion.
+ Collaborate with physicians to tailor exams based on patient history and clinical needs.
+ Educate and support patients before, during, and after procedures.
+ Ensure safety by applying ACR MR safety guidelines.
+ Contribute to a culture of learning by mentoring students and new team members.
+ Demonstrates ability to adapt exam to address problems of patient care as they arise making decisions to appropriately resolve problems. Recognizes and ensures additional study and examination techniques are applied when abnormalities are present.
+ Operates MRI scanner for data acquisition, reconstruction and documentation of images, and performs quality control measures for the purpose of ensuring optimal quality images.
+ Performs other patient care activities, duties and responsibilities as assigned consistent with Caregivers' scope of practice, training, experience and license/certification/registration.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
**What You Bring**
+ **Education:** Accredited School of Radiologic Technology Required, or equivalent education and/or experience as required for obtaining certification/license/registration as required by State for clinical practice
+ **Experience:** Minimum of 1 year previous experience preferred
+ **Skills:** Demonstrated venipuncture competency, demonstrated knowledge of radiologic and MRI terminology, practices, procedures, physiology, and human cross-sectional anatomy, competency in computer-based programs as they relate to MR applications, PACS/RIS knowledge
+ **Certifications:** ARRT - Radiography, ARRT - Magnetic Resonance Imaging, ARRT - Sonography, Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist, or American Registry of MRI Technologists Certification required upon hire. Basic Life Support certification through American Heart Association or American Red Cross required upon hire. If not already ARRT(MR) certified, applicant must be currently registry-eligible and/or currently participating in the SW Advanced Imaging cross training program. _ARRT (MR) certification is required within 6 months of hire._

**Key Responsibilities:**
+ Responsible for performing all routine and specialized MRI procedures by integrating medical knowledge and technical skills with effective patient interaction to provide quality patient care and accurate diagnostic information.
+ Utilize your expertise in other imaging modalities (like X-ray or CT) to support diverse patient needs.
+ Prepare, supply and equip exam room to meet the needs of requested examinations and to meet specific physician requirements for procedures.
+ Organizes daily work schedule and performs related clerical duties as required.
+ Integrates previous imaging studies, laboratory results, patient history and medical records to optimize exam.
+ Perform most appropriate examination based on patient information through consultation with interpreting physician and/or ordering physician as necessary.
+ Provides patient education and instruction prior to and after examination. Provide training/education to staff and students as indicated.
+ Demonstrates ability to adapt exam to address problems of patient care as they arise making decisions to appropriately resolve problems. Recognizes and ensures additional study and examination techniques are applied when abnormalities are present.

+ Applies the ACR Guidance Document for Safe MR Practices to ensure patient, visitor and caregiver safety.
+ Performs other patient care activities, duties and responsibilities as assigned consistent with Caregivers' scope of practice, training, experience and license/certification/registration.
**Experience**
+ Accredited Radiologic Technology School required, or equivalent education and/or experience as required for obtaining certification/license/registration as required by State for clinical practice
+ Minimum of 1 year previous experience preferred
+ Demonstrated venipuncture competency required
+ Demonstrated knowledge of radiologic and MRI terminology, practices, procedures, physiology, and human cross-sectional anatomy
+ Demonstrated competency in computer-based programs as they relate to MR applications
+ PACS/RIS knowledge required
+ ARRT - Radiography required at hire. ARRT-MR required within 1 1/2 years.
+ Basic Life Support from American Heart Association or American Red Cross
+ Registered with the Oregon Board of Medical Imaging (OBMI). Must maintain active registry with the State of Oregon OBMI.
