Zappos is seeking a self-motivated Pricing Merchandising Analyst that will work cross functionally with areas of the business including Merchandising, Planning, Marketing and Finance, to deliver success through data-driven insights supporting key company goals and initiatives. You will play a critical role in maximizing profitability and inventory efficiency by developing and owning strategic pricing initiatives to support total company goals.
As a successful Pricing Analyst you are responsible for KPI analysis and implementing pricing strategies. You leverage a variety of data platforms and analytical tools to determine the necessary pricing actions to maximize profitability, while still ensuring integrity and accuracy. You create pricing strategies based on analysis and input from data in order to determine how best to price an item that will be attractive for our customers but also profitable for Zappos. You ensure data quality and influence the direction of Pricing systems and tools. You work closely with business stakeholders and communicate strategies, opportunities, and risks with the most effective and influential methods so that any employee has the ability to see why and how a product was priced.
Key job responsibilities
* Work with Pricing leader to execute on and provide input into strategy, working cross functionally with teams to understand their needs and how we can utilize their goals into our goals (marketing, merchandising, planning)
* Work closely with merchandising and marketing business partners to understand and apply their needs into our pricing strategies
* Opportunity Analysis- reviewing KPIs and identifying the opportunity for actions either ad hoc or within rules and work with cross functional teams to execute on
* Analysis of style performance for opportunity actions, working closely with Merchandising leadership to take recommended actions where possible.
* Work with Merchandising to identify pricing opportunities and work closely with Machine Intelligence to create additional model inputs to solve business needs
* Work closely with Machine Intelligence teams to form a deep understanding of our Pricing model and partnering to recommend changes to the model to support business goals
* Coordinating cross-division efforts to optimize business processes
* Providing inputs to the pricing systems roadmap, verifying that the pricing systems support implementing the planned pricing strategy and process changes
* Developing business and pricing acumen, as well as creating efficient internal processes and practices
* Triaging and addressing user reported pricing needs
* Ad-Hoc Analysis
About the team
The pricing team is a small but mighty team that support Pricing Strategy and Operations and execution working cross functionally with Merchandising, Machine Intelligence, Marketing, Planning and Finance. They lead and direct pricing and channel visibility strategy formulation that aligns with the Zappos Brand Vision and take necessary actions to maximize profitability, ensuring integrity and accuracy with a focus on investing in Science and reducing manual efforts.
Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of business or financial analysis experience
- 3+ years of Excel (including VBA, pivot tables, array functions, power pivots, etc.) and data visualization tools such as Tableau experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- Experience defining requirements and using data and metrics to draw business insights
- Experience making business recommendations and influencing stakeholders
- 3+ years of experience in pricing and/or revenue management, e-commerce experience a plus
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of statistics or other analytical techniques
- Experience leading process improvement, systems development, and project management
