Position Highlights
Position Title: Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: Kettering, Ohio
Required Capabilities
• Direct experience with advanced part and assembly modeling techniques using 3D CAD software
• Strong experience with creating manufacturing and assembly drawings
• Experience designing electro-mechanical devices and systems
• Basic proficiency with PCs in a Windows environment including Microsoft Office
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbal
• Understands safe design stresses in both static and cyclically loaded components
• Proficiency in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) as it related to structural loading
Requirements
• The ideal candidate will have a commitment to safety with primary experience in foil converting systems.
Additional Requirements
• Experience with Excel and PowerPoint, CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc.
• Experience building process flow diagrams and process & instrumentation diagrams, as well as building mass-energy balances for processing plants. Working knowledge and experience with process simulation software is a plus
• Strong and independent problem-solving skills. Experience with diagnosing issues using failure analysis techniques and recommending solutions
• Bulk solids handling and powder processing systems, including powder blending, powder/spray coatings, crushing/milling, mechanical sorting/sieving/separation
• High temperature thermal processing/calcining systems
• Understanding of the flow behavior and characteristics of powders as they relate to reliable handling system design
Education Requirements
• Minimum education requirement, Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with 5-10 years of industry experience.
Job Responsibilities
• Design mechanical systems and assemblies from concept to production using 3D CAD software.
• Develop documentation to support the design and development process, such as design specifications, design decision documents, engineering testing/analysis documents and reports, and well as verification procedures.
• Lead and participate in design review presentations.
• Contribute to R&D efforts to facilitate ongoing product development.
• Produce detailed component and assembly drawings to be used in manufacturing and assembly.
• Select major system components that satisfy design specifications while understanding tradeoffs and the overall impact to cost, availability, obsolescence, reliability, etc.
• Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs in accordance with company guidelines
• Thoroughly document your work in accordance with company policy
• Provide support to production and troubleshoot technical issues
• Train manufacturing personnel
• Maintain product quality through compliance with the companies ISO 9001 certification
• Troubleshoot and lead root cause investigations and corrective actions in process related defects.
• Effectively communicate the status and results of projects to managers and executives regularly through verbal and written communication. Communication with customers and/or suppliers and may be required.

+ Work with product development and project teams to infuse UX capabilities into project schedules, including estimating UX level of effort and resource needs, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality work.
+ Be a versatile UX generalist with strong skills to:
+ Execute user research and discovery activities such as interviews, surveys, usability testing, and heuristic evaluations to understand current state user needs and behaviors.
+ Formulate future state strategies to envision and plan for long-term user experience goals with the ability to create personas, journey maps, and service blueprints to identify opportunities for improvement.
+ Create aesthetically pleasing and user-friendly visual designs and prototypes, incorporating inclusive design and responsive design standards.
+ Continuously improve UX strategies and guiding principles/frameworks around key areas (e.g., inclusive design accessibility, agentic AI, responsive design) in alignment with Deloitte brand and specifically the US Talent experience vision to uphold and advocate for design and brand standards across projects, ensuring consistency and quality in all deliverables.
+ Perform other role-related duties as assigned
The successful candidate will possess:
+ An enthusiasm for UX innovation, constantly exploring new design trends and methodologies (e.g., designing for generative and agentic AI experiences and leveraging AI tools to enhance the UX team's productivity, data analytics and visualization etc.)
+ Problem solving skills and consultative approach building strong relationships with stakeholders, colleagues, and vendors
+ Ability to work in a dynamic, complex, client- and team-focused environment with minimal oversight leading project delivery
+ Detail- and solution-oriented with strong communication skills, both verbal and written
+ Proficiency in UX tools including Figma and Adobe CC and strong Microsoft Office skills (e.g., PowerPoint, Excel, OneNote, Word, Teams)

QualificationsRequired:
+ Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
+ 6 years minimum of relevant work experience
+ 5 years minimum of demonstrated knowledge in design principles and implementing large, complex software platforms and/or applications rooted in usability and accessibility
+ Experience utilizing design systems across projects to foster design efficiency and create cohesive user experiences
+ Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
+ Ability to travel 0-5%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve.
Preferred:
+ Experience across the entire product lifecycle (project management/planning, user research and requirements analysis, design, development, testing, and deployment)
+ Experience creating design systems and other UX accelerators to champion human-centered design strategies for our Talent partners

A reasonable estimate of the current range is $93,000-$171,300.
You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
