The Quality Assurance Lead assists with the functions of the Quality Assurance Department. Focus on managing nonconforming inventory and testing. Ensure compliance with customer, company specifications, and regulatory agencies. Supports training and ongoing training of QA techs. Reviews data collection for accuracy and process control. Responds as needed to issue involving safety, Food Safety, and Quality.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide oversight, development and maintenance of quality programs/certifications, systems, processes, and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with policies so that the performance and quality of services conform to established standards and agency guidelines.
- Provides expertise and guidance in interpreting policies, regulatory and/or governmental regulations, and agency guidelines to assure compliance or certification requirements such as: Kosher, organic, RFA, FT, etc.
- Works directly with operating entities to provide process analyses oversight on a continuing basis to enforce requirements and meet guidelines.
- Leads audit and inspection preparation, resolution of audit and inspection findings and liaises with auditing groups and inspectors through all stages of the audits (including food safety & quality programs, SQF, FAT, ISO, appliance UL, Third Party audits, etc.)
- Coordinates legal requests in support of government investigations or litigations.
- Ensure the quality assurance programs and policies are maintained and modified regularly.
- Facilitates uniform standards worldwide and enables best practice sharing, thereby fostering the achievement of the company's mission globally.
- Assures that nonconforming product is addressed in a timely manner.
- Participates in and investigates vendor and/or customer complaints on existing products and non-conformance issues.
- Provides technical and process direction to Manufacturing and Quality Assurance.
- Analyze data to identify areas for improvement in the quality system.
- Participates in cross-functional product teams as the representative for Quality.
- Draft quality assurance policies, procedures, and forms. Interpret and implement quality assurance standards.
- Execute programs, correspond effectively, forecast, and respond to problems to minimize product deviations from established standards.
- Evaluate adequacy of quality assurance standards.
- Participates in other plant teams and programs such as HACCP Team, SQF Team, and others as assigned.
- Monitors Quality Plan, Product Hold, and implement changes to improve operating efficiency.
- Develops, justifies, and implements manufacturing QA process improvements.
- Compiles and analyzes test information and QA metrics to determine operating efficiency of process or equipment and to diagnose malfunctions.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in food science or related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
- SQF Certified Practitioner preferred.
- HACCP Certified
- Internal Auditor Trained preferred.
- 2+ years of Food Safety, Quality Control, Quality Assurance or other regulatory related leadership experience within a USDA or FDA environment
- Experience implementing and operating GFSI programs (BRC, SQF, etc.) in a food processing environment.

SUMMARY:
This position has shared responsibility for all aspects of a FAA 145 Repair Station Quality Management System including but not limited to: Airworthy assessments of all incoming and outgoing materials; Full FAA, organizational and subcontractor compliance with all regulations, specifications, documentation and airworthiness directives and development, execution and oversight of audit and surveillance inspection and corrective action processes. This position reports to the Vice President of Maintenance Operations through the Director of Quality Assurance. ESSENTIAL SHARED DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise, direct and coach all personnel assigned to the Quality Assurance and Inspection Departments.
- Direct, plan and lay out details of inspection standards, methods, and procedures to comply with all applicable Civil Aviation Regulations and manufacturer's recommendations.
- Maintain a current file of all pertinent internal and external regulations, specifications and airworthiness directives.
- Secure and maintain technical data on all units returned to service by the Repair Station.
- Ensure Audit/Surveillance Program, both internal and external, is accomplished as an ongoing process and discrepancies and corrective actions are documented and resolved.
- Ensure defective or non-airworthy parts are not installed in any component or unit released by the Repair Station.

The position is highly visible and responsible for decision making that may have a significant impact on the organization's earnings, operations and reputation.ESSENTIAL SHARED DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervise, direct and coach all personnel assigned to the Quality Assurance and Inspection Departments. Direct, plan and lay out details of inspection standards, methods, and procedures to comply with all applicable Civil Aviation Regulations and manufacturer's recommendations. Maintain a current file of all pertinent internal and external regulations, specifications and airworthiness directives. Secure and maintain technical data on all units returned to service by the Repair Station. Ensure Audit/Surveillance Program, both internal and external, is accomplished as an ongoing process and discrepancies and corrective actions are documented and resolved. Ensure defective or non-airworthy parts are not installed in any component or unit released by the Repair Station. Ensure accuracy and completeness of required documents and of all materials to specifications. Submit proper service difficulty reports in accordance with FAR 145.221. Oversee inspection associated with the repair cycle including final outgoing inspection. Oversee final incoming inspection of all materials used by the Repair Station. Oversee calibration of tool and test equipment program. Oversee initial and recurrent training of all assigned personnel. Ensures personnel adhere to all safety and security policies and regulations. Report to work on a regular and consistent basis.REQUIRED ABILITY TO: Focus and deliver results. Achieve targeted results with minimal supervision. Current FAA Airframe Mechanics Certificate or held an FAA Repairman Certificate at an FAA 145 Repair Station or comparable environment.DESIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in a technical related field or equivalent from an accredited institution.WORKING CONDITIONS: Frequent work in an office environment. Occasional work in a production setting. Must be flexible to work additional hours and occasional weekends as needed. SUMMARY OF POSITION :
The assistant will work with the Quality Assurance Manager and Food Safety Director to meet the needs of the department, position, and personnel to remain within compliance.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Assist Quality Assurance Management with the following:
- Maintain all paperwork to follow federal/state regulations, customer policies and SQF requirements. Verify accuracy of records, enter records into organized system, and have records easily accessible for audits.
- Perform Daily Production and Daily Warehouse checks, thermometer Calibrations for I/R and Dial thermometers for production and warehouse, and Scale Calibration Accuracy check for all scales in warehouse and production (including pricing).
- Complete Weekly High/Low Temperature readings for production rooms, coolers and freezers
- Review daily production paperwork (sanitation records, production reports, sell by date sheets, etc.)
- Collect weekly environmental swab samples and submit the weekly environmental samples to the lab for Salmonella and Listeria
- Perform the daily, weekly, monthly, and annual environmental testing for ATP, Allergens, TPC, Coliform and E. coli
- Develop and maintain training, procedures and policies, and ongoing communication efforts related to an effective HACCP/Food Safety Program, including the maintenance of all SOP and SSOP manuals
- Maintain the records of these certifications and coordinate with managers to re-certify as needed.
- Other duties to be designated by manager
- Strong ability to communicate in English. Uses written, verbal, and nonverbal communication methods. Includes group interaction, presentation skills, etc. Multi-lingual helpful to position.
- Strong judgment, high attention to detail, and effective problem-solving ability.
- Intermediate to advanced computer abilities, particularly in applications such as Word, Excel, Access, pricing/inventory systems, etc.
- Strong demonstration of mathematical/numerical abilities, particularly the understanding and conversion of weights, pricing calculations, statistical calculations, and ability to develop/calculate benchmarks related to production/quality.
- Understanding and demonstrated behavior related to all areas of safety.
- Physical abilities including, but not limited to:
- Repetitive motion of fingers, wrists, and hands in data entry, writing, and testing
- Certifications necessary to position:
- First Aid/CPR certification preferred, but not required
- Food Handler's Permit, HACCP, PCQI, and SQF Practitioner Certifications (preferred)
