**Job Summary**
POWER Engineers, Member of WSP is seeking a senior-level electrical engineer to work as a Principal Engineer in the Power Delivery Substation Specialty Services Department in our Substation Business Unit (SBU). This individual is expected to independently develop and apply advanced engineering techniques, concepts, and approaches to unique engineering problems. This principal technical advisor role will lead in assimilating and disseminating complex engineering concepts in the power delivery power transformer subject matter area to internal/external business unit stakeholders. It is desirable that the individual also has experience in substation and generation subject matters. The Principal Engineer will serve as a technical specialist and have the knowledge and skill set to provide consultation and guidance to project teams and clients in multiple practice areas and markets, concentrating on the power transformer market. This position reports to the POWER office closest to the employee's residence, with the flexibility to work remotely from a mutually agreed-upon location.
**Roles and Responsibilities**
Support and mentor others in the HV and the EHV substation design and HVDC converter station design.
Here are some of the key responsibilities
+ Provide technical leadership in business development
+ Develop technical specifications for HV, EHV, and FACTS Substation equipment
+ Develop performance specifications for HVDC converter station
+ Serve as the primary liaison between the project team, OEMs and utility clients
+ Lead design reviews during engineering phase, including cross functional teams
+ Lead and direct others during detailed design of HVDC converter station balance of plant design as well as design of all interfaces to substation
+ As SME (Subject Matter Expert), review test plans, witness and approve factory acceptance tests, review commissioning plans and provide technical support during commissioning tests
+ Mentor and provide guidance to other engineers
+ Serve as a SME in the company's KMP (Knowledge Management Program) for HVDC and Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS)
+ Organize and oversee the implementation of POWER's and WSP's quality process and management system. Work to produce deliverables that meet internal/external quality expectations
+ Develop and lead internal/external technical training at corporate events
+ Regularly prepare and present white papers and technical content marketing pieces.
+ Actively engaged in leadership positions within nationally recognized technical societies
**Required Education/Experience**
+ BSEE (BS in Electrical Engineering) or BSEET (BS in Electrical Engineering Technology) degree, from an accredited university preferably with a power option. MSEE (MS in Electrical Engineering) strongly preferred.
+ Professional Engineering license (PE) is preferred but candidate with equivalent combination of education and experience with the ability to obtain a PE license.
+ Experience in 15kV through 500kV AC substations and HVDC converter station design
+ Experience in mentoring lesser experienced members enabling them to execute technically challenging work that they could not perform without technical guidance
+ Extensive knowledge base and skill set in the application and purchasing of power transformers for the electric utility market
+ Knowledge base and skill set in the in application and procurement of HVDC converter station systems for the electric utility market
+ Strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel
**Desired Education/Experience**
+ Twenty (20) or more years' experience in utility substation market is preferred with fifteen (15) years or more preferred in the HVAC converter stations, FACTS and related systems
+ Experience in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) of HVAC and HVDC equipment, such as transformers, reactors, cable system etc.

As a Principal Member of Technical Staff, you will work with senior architects and product management to define requirements for OCI's upcoming AI/ML storage infrastructure services. You have deep experience with distributed systems, it's architecture, development and management. Expertise in one or more Public Cloud offerings is a plus. You will be expected to make substantial contributions towards our design and architecture and will implement proof of concepts. You have excellent communication skills and can clearly explain complex technical concepts. As a technical leader on your team, you will mentor and demonstrate core values for other more junior engineers. You will write code, review code written by your peers, and write test automations. You should value simplicity and scale, work comfortably in a collaborative, agile environment, and be excited to learn.
**Responsibilities**
+ 6+ years experience delivering and operating large scale, highly available distributed systems.
+ Substantial experience with development and operations in large scale Linux environments.
+ Strong proficiency with Java. Python and/or C/C++ is a plus.
+ Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and distributed systems fundamentals.
+ Expertise in one or more Public Cloud offerings (OCI, AWS, GCP, Azure) is a plus.
+ Experience with distributed storage system development and management a plus
+ Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills.
+ Self-motivation to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
+ Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $96,800 to $223,400 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.
