Job Summary

Under general supervision of the Executive Director of CBS, the Facilities Business Intelligence Analyst is responsible for Facilities' data management around data analysis and mining; business intelligence design solutions and creating easy to access metrics for the department and campus.

Department Summary

Facilities Management and Development (FMD), a unit within the Administration and Finance Division (AFD), is responsible for the planning, design, construction, operations, maintenance, and repair of university facilities, grounds, and infrastructure. FMD consists of four critical and interdependent support departments, including Customer & Business Services (CBS); Energy, Utilities, & Sustainability; Facilities Planning & Capital Projects; and Facilities Operations. In support of the Cal Poly mission, the FMD department is committed to sustainability, responsible stewardship of natural resources, and promoting an inclusive culture that values individual and organizational integrity, civility, equity, and diversity.

Key Qualifications

  • Thorough knowledge of data information systems, data mining and analytics, business intelligence software, associated reporting software, and the relationships between data elements.
  • Thorough working knowledge of Odata, Microsoft's Power BI Analytics, and SQL.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently analyze and evaluate software functionality through technical documents and testing, perform fit-gap analyses, and design and document efficient and effective business practices.
  • Demonstrated ability in administrative survey techniques, operations and systems analysis, statistical and research methods, and the ability to interpret and evaluate results to drop sound conclusions and recommend new or revised policies, procedures, or solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze facilities software modules and data requirements and research data availability and access methods.
Education and Experience
  • Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university. Four (4) years of technical or administrative experience. A graduate degree in a related field may be substituted for one year of the required experience. Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.


Salary and Benefits

Anticipated Hiring Range: $82,735 - $9,750 per year

Classification Range: 66,444 - 120,168 per year

Key Qualifications

  • Manage a personal portfolio of an assigned number of prospective annual and major gift prospects/donors, while maintaining confidentiality. Manage prospect, identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. Conduct an assigned number of significant or substantive donor meetings annually. Submit an assigned number of major gift proposals annually.
  • Develop and implement strategies for the solicitation of leadership annual gifts ($1,000 - $4,999) andmajor gifts( 25,000 - 99,999)including determining the appropriate ongoing relationships with prospects/donors; recommending specific purpose and level of gift; identifying those who should be involved in cultivation and subsequent solicitations; and carry out solicitations, as directed.
  • In conjunction with input from the Executive Director of Development and External Relations and the Assistant Vice President for Development, Colleges and Units, execute an assigned portion of an annual development plan. Responsible for personal and college metrics and goals that result from the annual development plan.
  • Under the direction of the Executive Director of Development and External Relations develop written proposals for presentation to leadership annual and major gift donors, corporate sponsors, and foundations; develop gift agreements and confer with appropriate administrative personnel to secure closure of the gift; oversee accounting, gift recording and acknowledgement procedures and reporting; oversee compliance for in-kind gifts.
  • Work collaboratively with central University Development & Alumni Engagement partners including, but not limited to, Annual Giving, Planned Giving, Corporation Relations, Foundation Relations, Development Support Services, Trust and Endowments, and Parent Philanthropy.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of two years of progressively responsible professional experience in development, fundraising, donor relations, marketing, planned giving or other related professional experience with one year being direct fundraising experience.
  • Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
