Position Title: Kid Healthy SPORTS™, Field Mentor

SUMMARY:
The Kid Healthy SPORTS™ Field Mentor is the school site representative for Kid Healthy and our partners. The Field Mentor serves as a direct communicator to advance the mission and goals of Kid Healthy within the school and school community. The Field Mentor is responsible for maintaining program equipment, delivering Social Emotional Learning (SEL) focused mentorship, and successful implementation of sports-based programs of Kid Healthy.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Communicates effectively and courteously with all contacts. Works well with diverse people.
• Maintains current knowledge of and complies with organizational and department policies and procedures.
• Meets all applicable safety requirements for the position and work environment including prompt injury reporting.
• Organizes workload to meet project timelines and deadlines. Minimizes time spent on personal calls and matters. Meets attendance and punctuality requirements, reports time and attendance accurately.
• Uses skill and judgment to ensure program objectives are met efficiently.
• Supports the vision and goals of Kid Healthy.
POSITION FUNCTIONS:
• Stay up to date on CASL: SEL updates & practices
• Maintain a positive playing environment for the participants
• Plan and execute effective sports based & physical activities during designated recess time.
• Follow program goals and participate in the monitoring and evaluation process.
• Document successes and challenges faced after each program
• Submit a Student Spotlight story to Program Manager on a monthly basis
• Submit a monthly report to each school administrator of programs assigned
• Care for and be responsible for program equipment assigned
• Lead programming at a variety of sites and with a variety of partners
• Maintain ongoing professional relationships with community partners, staff, and parents.
• Attendance and participation at monthly staff meetings with program manager.
• Active participation in training and education of Field Mentor position.
• Have a passion for working with children, and the development of the whole child.
• Support the continued growth of Kid Healthy SPORT™ program, including participation of new school sites.
• Other duties as assigned.
COMMUNITY RELATIONS:
Participate in community collaborations, partnerships, and networking organizations that enhance and expand the scope of Kid Healthy - SPORT™, as time allows.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
• High School Diploma is helpful but not required.
• Sports background: has been on a team or coaching experience is helpful but not required.
• Ability to speak, read and write Spanish as well as English is helpful for future growth but not required to be a Field Mentor.
COMPUTER & EQUIPMENT SKILLS:
• General knowledge of computer operations Use of Microsoft Office Word, PowerPoint, Internet and email programs are helpful but not required.
PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:
• Must be physically fit to maintain a moderate level of physical activity for minimum 2 hours per day.
• Hearing and speech within normal ranges and sufficient for clear communication face to face and on the telephone.
• Lifts up to 20 pounds regularly, must be able to carry equipment out onto field daily.
• Exposed to typical school environment conditions and noise levels.
• May be exposed to common sickness acquired by children (cold, flu, chicken pox)
• Must be willing to take and pass a TB test.
MENTAL AND REASONING REQUIREMENTS:
• Uses critical thinking skills to manage the playground and games with multiple children
• Able to formulate appropriate responses to requests for services and information from internal or external sources.
• Uses good judgment in handling injuries and safe play.
OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS:
• Maintains professional behavior, dress and appearance at all times.
• Attends event, meetings and trainings as requested.

The City of Peoria seeks to hire multiple people for our Sports Field Grounds Crew in the Parks and Recreation department to perform a variety of semi-skilled tasks related to the reconditioning of baseball fields and turf maintenance, while assisting with the maintenance of facilities and grounds during various events and activities throughout the year. This is accomplished by assisting higher-level maintenance staff with the preparation and maintenance of baseball fields, grounds, and related facilities.
Essential Functions:
- Prepare and maintain baseball fields, bullpens and related facilities utilizing a variety of hand and power tools, including edgers and weed eaters.
- Assist with turf maintenance, including resodding, power washing and power brooming edges.
- Assist with reconditioning of fields, including mounds, home plates, base passes, infield edges, replacing bases and base anchors and hauling materials.
- Perform painting of field, foul lines and logos.
- Assist with the application of drying materials and tarp pulling on fields during inclement weather.
- Provide general maintenance, which includes raking leaves, cleaning walks and littler control around fields, buildings and grounds.
- Clean restrooms and replenish supplies, as needed.

Cordova Recreation & Park District (CRPD) is seeking a self-driven candidate to fill the Park Maintenance Worker I - Sports Field Maintenance position with the assigned responsibility of preparation and maintenance of rental sports fields throughout the District and at the Mather Sports Complex. This position also performs a variety of skilled work in the maintenance and operation of District parks and facilities and performs other work as required.
Our ideal candidate has knowledge of various types of turf and prior experience with mowing, edging, striping, and grooming of multi-use sport fields and sports courts.
Typical Schedule: Monday through Friday, 40 hours/week. Possibly on-call, weekends, and holidays as needed.
This is a full-time onsite position with a comprehensive benefits package that includes fully paid (base plan) medical, dental, and vision for the employee and all eligible dependents. CRPD participates in the CalPERS Retirement System.

Class Summary: Under general supervision of assigned supervisory staff, performs a variety of skilled and specialized work in the maintenance and operation of District parks and facilities; assists in the direction, supervision, and work of park maintenance activities; maintains and operates a variety of hand and power tools and equipment; and performs a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned areas of responsibility.
Distinguishing Characteristics: This is the journey level class within the Park Maintenance Worker series. Employees within this class are distinguished from the Park Maintenance Worker II level by the latter's responsibility for performing the most difficult and responsible types of duties assigned to classes within this series.
Essential Functions

- Perform skilled, semi-skilled and manual labor in the maintenance and operation of sports fields, parks, and facilities in the District including in the areas of landscaping, irrigation, carpentry, electrical, horticulture, masonry, mechanical, painting, custodial, pest control, and other crafts as required.
- Mow, trim, edge, fertilize, and water turf and other landscaped areas; prepare soil for planting; seed and resod lawn areas; perform weed control.
- Groom, sanitize, and repair synthetic sports fields.
- Trim and prune trees and shrubs.
- Perform general grounds cleaning; clean, sanitize, and restock restrooms; pick up and discard trash and litter; empty trash receptacles.
- Operate a variety of maintenance equipment including mowers, edgers, rototillers, weed eaters, hand and power tools, and related sports field equipment and maintenance machinery necessary in the performance of duties; perform preventative maintenance and light repairs on equipment.
- Assists in planning, assigning, and coordinating the work of part-time and volunteer crews engaged in maintenance, construction and repair work.
- Perform routine inspections of District facilities and execution of required maintenance repair.
- Maintain a variety of written records and reports.
- May assist higher level staff in specialized park and sports field maintenance duties including the areas of facilities maintenance, turf maintenance and repair, and irrigation maintenance.
- Work with Recreation Department to facilitate/prepare rentals.
- Perform related duties as required.

EMPLOYMENT CLASSIFICATION: Regular Full-Time, Non-Exempt
SALARY: Employees are eligible for merit increases from 1 to 5 salary steps after the first year of employment, and thereafter annually based on their work performance and until they reach the top of their step salary range.
SOCIAL SECURITY: Authority employees are covered by Social Security; therefore, they are required to contribute (6.2%)
MEDICARE: Employees hired after March 31, 1986, contribute 1.45% to Medicare.
RETIREMENT: Employees are enrolled in a defined benefit retirement program under the CalPERS Retirement System as follows:
*If hired prior to December 31, 2012, 2% at age 55 retirement formula, employee contributions 7% of compensation earnable.
*If hired after December 31, 2012, without reciprocity, 2% at age 62 retirement formula, employee contributions 8% of compensation earnable.
DEFERRED COMPENSATION: Employees in regular or limited-term positions may at their choice participate in the District's CalPERS 457 deferred compensation plan.
MEDICAL BENEFIT: Employees have a choice of Sutter, Western Health Advantage or Kaiser medical plans. The District contributes 100% toward employee and dependent medical premiums for a High Deductible Plan with a generous employer contribution toward a Health Savings Account (HSA) or a low Co-pay Plan with either carrier. Employees have the option to pay extra to enroll in a premium Co-Pay HMO plan or opt out and be paid 50% of the premium as taxable wages if already insured.
DENTAL/VISION CARE: The District contributes 100% toward employee and dependent dental and vision premiums provided by Mutual of Omaha.
LIFE AND ACCIDENTAL DEATH AND DISMEMBERMENT INSURANCE: The District provides Term Life and AD&D equivalent to one year gross salary.
LONG TERM DISABILITY: The District contributes toward employee long term disability plan provided by Mutual of Omaha.
VACATION: Full-time eligible employees begin to earn paid vacation time according to the schedules set forth below. Vacation time begins to accrue beginning with the employee's first day of employment. However, employees will not be entitled to take paid vacation time until after six (6) months of employment with the District unless approved by the General Manager.
HOLIDAYS: All Regular Full Time employees of the District shall be entitled to the following eleven (11) fixed holidays with pay:
- New Year's Day, January 1st
- Martin Luther King Day, Third Monday in January
- President's Day, Third Monday in February
- Memorial Day, Last Monday in May
- Independence Day, July 4th
- Labor Day, First Monday in September
- Veteran's Day, November 11th
- Thanksgiving Day, Fourth Thursday in November
- The Friday following Thanksgiving Day, Fourth Friday in November
- Half day or four (4) hours on Christmas Eve, December 24th
- Christmas Day, December 25th
- Half day or four (4) hours on New Year's Eve, December 31st
In addition, all regular full-time employees shall be issued two (2) floating holidays per calendar year starting January 1st.
SICK LEAVE: Sick leave is earned at the rate of 3.69 hours per pay period (equivalent to eight hours per month), beginning with the first month of employment. All unused sick leave may be carried forward into ensuing years and become part of the current allowance. There is no limit to the amount of sick leave that can be accumulated. Sick leave cannot be used until earned.

Job Description
The Youth Sports Coach is responsible for teaching and supervising youth development classes of up to 15 students per class. The Youth Sports Coach reports directly to the Youth Development Director and Youth Program Director.
The coach is the primary point-of-contact for students and parents and is expected to deliver excellent customer service. Not only will the coach spend time with new students and parents to orient them to the program, but also greet and converse with all participants before and/or after each class. In addition to being able to answer questions related to the youth sports program, the coach is expected to have a detailed knowledge of the facility and other programs which may be applicable.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Set up and take down instructional equipment before and after each class
- Supervise children and ensure the playing/performance area is safe for all participants
- Work irregular shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Maintain current qualifications in accordance with program standards
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as needed, required, or assigned by the Youth Development Director, Youth Program Director and/or the General Manager
- Desire to work with children 18 months to 13 years of age
- Strong verbal communication skills

I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides athletic training support under the direction of the physician for sideline and field level coverage for athletic injuries at practices, games, events and tournaments.
- Provides athletic training support to athletes in the clinic during physician visits as directed.
II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Seeing, hearing, speaking, standing, sitting, walking, stooping/bending, squatting, finger dexterity, lifting and pushing/pulling usual weight of 10 pounds, carrying usual weight of 5 pounds, reaching above, at and below shoulder level, repetitive arm/hand motions, frequent gripping of an object.
- Frequent: lifting/carrying up to maximum of 50 pounds, pushing/pulling up to maximum 50 pounds of force, static gripping of an object for prolonged periods.
