Job Description
A vacancy has arisen for a North American based Tax Manager to join the Amex GBT Tax team to assist with managing the US federal, state income tax and indirect tax compliance. You would initially form part of a small team focused on US tax matters, although the North American team is expected to increase significantly by the end of the year. The role offers the successful candidate the chance to be an important member of and contributor to an ambitious, dynamic and influential corporate function.
This is a high profile, hands-on role, with a varied US tax focus that will develop and broaden your US and international tax knowledge as well as your tax accounting expertise in some. You will be offered unrivalled exposure to complex issues and experiences to further your career, as well as the opportunity to make your mark as Amex GBT pushes ahead with its strategy for growth.
Amex GBT Tax currently operates a relatively flat reporting structure, thus promoting a strong team ethic. The position will report into the Tax Director - US Tax Compliance and Reporting and work alongside other members of the global tax team, as well as interacting with Amex GBT colleagues at all levels across the organization and external advisers.
This is a remote role, although depending upon the location of the successful candidate, it may be possible to offer a hybrid work arrangement.
**What You'll Do:**
+ Managing co-sourced advisers to ensure that Amex GBT meets its US tax filing obligations and makes tax payments in a timely manner
+ Working alongside Amex GBT International Tax and Transfer Pricing colleagues on the consequences on ETR/cash taxes including planning and modelling (e.g. US tax consolidation, NOL utilisation, s382/SRLY limitations, GILTI, BEAT, DCLs, FDII, FTCs) to ensure accurate treatment and disclosure on the US federal and state income tax returns.
+ Involvement on SALT planning for both direct and indirect taxes, working alongside Indirect Tax subject matter experts
+ Ad hoc projects and involvement on US tax audits as necessary
+ Development of junior staff
**What We're Looking For:**
+ have a minimum of 6 years' relevant US tax experience in the majority of the areas detailed above, gained either in practice and/or in-house
+ be a CPA or have a relevant US tax qualification
+ be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of US domestic tax law and a reasonable understanding of international tax rules. As the spectrum of this role is broad, appropriate support will be provided on any developmental areas

The Tax and Trade Compliance Manager functions as the U.S. corporate international trade compliance lead in support of BI USA trade compliance efforts and provides strategic and tactical guidance, direction, and support to the company's U.S. business units. **Duties & Responsibilities**
+ Functions as US Trade Compliance Associate, managing all aspects of the company's activities associated with international trade falling under the authority of U.S. government agencies ("USGA's") with import and export administrative duties (e.g., U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Bureau of Customs and Border Protection; U.S. Department of Commerce, Bureau of Industry and Security and US Census Bureau; U.S. Department of the Treasury, Office of Foreign Assets Control, and export/ import related activities falling under the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
+ Aligns local trade compliance policy with corporate guidelines.
+ Manages company export and import compliance functions through auditing to ensure proper application of international trade related internal controls.
+ Provides oversight to company's international trade related service providers (e.g., customs brokers and freight forwarders).
+ Identifies continuous strategic initiatives to promote trade compliance efficiencies and to ensure the effectiveness of internal policies and procedures, mandating additional controls be implemented where not appropriate to address the inherent risks.
+ Serves as international trade compliance Subject Matter Expert (SME) for U.S. Business Units, Global Trade Governance and Export Control group, and other internal stakeholders.
+ Serves as company's principal point of contact with the company's CBP National Account Manager (NAM)to ensure the continued highest level of compliance with CBP regulatory and program requirements, noted USGA's, and outside legal trade counsel relative to trade compliance matters as needed.
+ Serves as backup for TAO and Company administrator for those communication systems, portals, and sites engaged to submit, manage, and extract requisite sensitive information pursuant to company trade activity and supply chain security processes.
+ Develops and implements strategies to ensure continued participation in USGA trade partnership programs.
+ Leads cross-functional team efforts to ensure continued participation in USGA trade partnership programs.
+ Acts in an operational capacity to review processes and procedures, assess risks and implement additional controls where necessary.
+ Maintains appropriate levels of knowledge in the international trade field through adequate training on a yearly basis.
**Requirements**
+ Bachelor's degree required.
+ Recognized professional trade compliance certification requiring recurring (i.e., annual) continuing education credits or exam passage (e.g., NCBFAA CES and CCS, ECoP; CUSECO) or Licensed U.S. Customs Broker preferred.
+ Five-plus (5+) years industry experience in trade compliance and/or operations.
+ Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with collaboration across many departments.

+ Ability to perform job responsibilities within a hybrid work model that requires US Tax professionals to co-locate in person 2-3 days per week
+ 3+ years' experience providing tax compliance services or preparing and reviewing client work, with a focus on international taxation
+ Bachelor's degree
