Overview:
Under the general supervision of alicensed Occupational Therapist and according to standards of treatment, assists with objective assessments as well as comprehensive individualized treatment programs for patients of all age ranges, according to departmental policies and procedures. Performs duties andresponsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.
- Assist with initial assessment on each patient upon receiving direction from O.T.R./L. and according todepartmental policies and procedures.
- Document the course of patient care including progress notes and the continuing need for treatment according to departmental policy.
- Administer appropriate modalities, exercise regimes, or treatment procedures according to departmental policies and procedures on standards of treatment care.
- Maintain progress notes and departmental records on each patientaccording to departmental policies regarding documentation and charges.
- Participate in promoting education within the department
- Demonstrates knowledge of special needs and behaviors ofspecific age groups to include neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric.
- Perform miscellaneous job duties observed as directed by the Inpatient PhysicalMedicine Supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Education : Must be a graduate of an accredited Occupation Therapist Assistant program.
- Licensure : Current license for Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant or eligible for licensure in state of practice.
- Experience : One year experience is preferred but will consider new graduates.
- Certifications : BLS certified. Required certifications must be current before assigned to care for patients independently.

This position is open to therapists at all experience levels.
Some duties for this position include:
Utilizes evidence-based practice to support clinical interventions.
Provides rehabilitative, skilled and medically necessary treatment intervention to patients with physical functioning disorders per regulatory and clinical practice requirements under the supervision and direction of an Physical Therapist.
Provides skilled therapy services to patients who need rehabilitation services.
Assesses and document patient’s progress and communicates with supervising Physical Therapist to adjust treatments accordingly.
Provides consultation and counseling to patients, as well as families, caregivers and other service providers related to physical disorders.
Provides input to supervisor for discharge summary of services provided per regulatory and clinical requirements.

The clinic is located within the hospital, features 15+ subspecialties of care, and has a focus on 1:1 individualized care with our patients. Our current outpatient team has 22 licensed therapists, a great place for a therapist to grow and develop.
**Preferred Qualifications**
**Role Purpose**
Provides skilled treatments to patients as prescribed by the physician and directed by a licensed physical therapist as specified in their health care service setting.
**Responsibilities**
+ Implements treatment plan as developed by the licensed physical therapist.
+ Collaborates with the licensed physical therapist on an agreed upon frequency to assess and reassess patient's plan of care, treatment goals and interventions.
+ Documents patient progress in daily notes and weekly notes (as applicable), as well as contributes recommendations to patient's discharge note from physical therapy.
+ Assists with guidance for clinical fieldwork students under the supervision of the physical therapist.
+ Reports on interventions and patient progress during assigned meetings and contributes to the screening and evaluation process.
