JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary
Department: Ultrasound 001
Shift timings : 18:00-06:30 Hours (Monday to Friday) 3 Days/12 Hours
Per Week: 36 Hours
Pediatric Hospital, 36 bed site, 2 Siemens Sequoia, 18 bed ED, supports outpatient imaging, 24 hour staffing, on call required. This is a hybrid role requiring both diagnostic pediatric sonography and vascular sonography.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Performs appropriate diagnostic procedures, records patient test results and reports results.
- Monitors patient comfort and safety during tests, alerting physicians to abnormalities or changes in patient responses.
- Maintains adequate supplies and verifies all equipment is in proper working condition; reports deficiencies and failures.
- Positions patients and selects anatomic and technical parameters accurately.
- Ensures all activities comply with regulatory agency standards.
- Ensures prompt submission of high-quality of all images and documents sent to PACS (image quality, correct lead markers and patient data/history).
- Assists in maintaining a clean, and orderly department to include procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms, film storage area and any other areas in department.

- National Institutes of Health (NIH)
- Sound knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.
- The ability to stand for extended periods.
- Strong technical skills.
- Knowledge of medical terminology

- Requires a minimum of two years of current Vascular Sonography experience.
- Graduate from a fully accredited Sonography program
- Active unencumbered Sonography Texas license
- ARRT Certification
- One year of Cerner experience

Job Description: Performs diagnostic echo/vascular ultrasound procedures as outlined in policies and procedures of the Cardiovascular Laboratory, including but not limited to Duplex imaging and/or echocardiography. May be cross-trained into other areas in the department. Responsible for maintaining compliance with Intersocietal Commission of Accreditation of Echo/Vascular Laboratory standards. Assumes responsibility and accountability for patients in the department and provides care to these patients through assessment, observation and documentation. Performs other related duties incidental to the work described within. Work is primarily independent.
Minimum Training and Education: Graduation from an accredited Vascular Technology, Cardiovascular Technology, or Ultrasonography program is preferred. Equivalent work experience will be considered. One year of training/work experience including a variety of Vascular exams is preferred.
Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations: Certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers as a Registered Vascular Technologist (ARDMS RVT) or by Cardiovascular Credentialing International as a Registered Vascular Specialist (CCI RVS) is required prior to being hired. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.
