Environment Agency stated a possibility of flood along Severn estuary from Gloucester to Sharpness and on Wye Estuary.

The Agency has issued two flood alerts on Thursday for areas in and around Gloucester. These alerts mean – be prepared for a possible flooding. It affects the Severn estuary from Gloucester to Sharpness and on Wye Estuary

Heavy rain had been forecasted in the county yesterday. However, there is no rain in the forecast for today. A severe weather warning had been issued for wind covering Gloucestershire from 4am to 6pm on Friday.

The alert goes like these:

The period of high tides is expected to last for the next 3 days; up to and including Saturday evening. We are closely monitoring the situation. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses.

Wye Estuary in Gloucestershire

According to the Environment Agency, river levels are forecast to rise at the Avonmouth and Newport gauges due to high tides.

As per reports, there is a possibility of flooding due to high tide on Thursday morning. It could continue into the weekend.

It could affect the roads in Brockweir and Elmdale, Chepstow.

The alert goes like these:

“The period of high tides is expected to last for the next 3 days; up to and including Saturday evening.

“We are closely monitoring the situation. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses.”
