Specsavers rebounds from pandemic with record annual sales and 1,600 new jobs

Specsavers has recovered well from the pandemic, reporting record annual sales in the fiscal year.
The Sunday Times reports sales increased 25 percent year on year to £3.4 billion, while profits increased to £446 million.
Over the course of the year, the eyecare specialist hired over 1,600 people across its global operations.

However, the retailer had cut thousands of jobs to cut costs during the pandemic. In the previous fiscal year, it cut 450 head office jobs.

Despite the success, the optician is warning of tough times ahead.
According to this year's Sunday Times Rich List, Specsavers was founded by husband-and-wife team Doug and Dame Mary Perkins, who are worth an estimated £1.33 billion.
