Amazon to Hire Over 15,000 Staff for Christmas Season in the UK

Amazon announced plans to hire more than 15,000 temporary workers to manage the busy festive period this year. 

The new roles will help the online giant handle the expected surge in customer orders during the holiday season.

Seasonal Hiring Details

Pay rates for these temporary positions will start at £13.50 an hour, with potential rises up to £14.50, depending on the location.

The seasonal workers will be based across Amazon's various fulfillment centers and delivery stations across the UK, supporting the company's increased workload during the peak shopping period.

Amazon's Preparation for the Festive Season

Anil Verma, Operations Director at Amazon, said:

"We prepare year-round for the festive season, and we’re excited to have more than 15,000 positions available this year in the UK. Our seasonal colleagues play an integral role in helping us deliver an exceptional experience for our customers."

He added Amazon looks forward to welcoming back many returning seasonal workers as well as new faces joining the team.

New Fulfillment Center in Eastwood, Nottingham

Amazon has also started operations at a new fulfillment center in Eastwood, Nottingham. This offers a variety of jobs, including engineers, HR and IT professionals, health and safety experts, finance specialists, operations managers, and the workers who pick, pack, and ship customer orders.

Prashant Pandey, Regional Director, added:

"This is the eighth fulfillment center in the East Midlands region – a further sign of our commitment to the communities in which we operate."
