Global retail giant Amazon has established its first development centre in Wales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Veeqo, the multi-channel shipping software company it purchased last year<\/strong><\/a>, as well as other Amazon teams, will be housed at its new operation, which is located at the SA1 waterfront development in Swansea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The expansion occurs at the same time that Veeqo’s services are now available to all 85,000 SMEs selling on Amazon in the UK and the close to 500,000 Amazon sellers <\/strong><\/a>operating in the US at no cost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n READ MORE: BUSINESS RATES HIKE COULD MEAN AMAZON\u2019S UK TAX BILL COULD JUMP \u00a329 MILLION<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n Veeqo has increased its headcount with Amazon’s assistance by 50 percent from 80 to 120 after being acquired, adding technical positions including software development engineers, technical product managers, and knowledge engineers as well as UX designers, product managers, and business analysts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The new centre will also house Amazon’s fulfillment facility, which just celebrated its 15th anniversary. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Veeqo chief executive<\/a><\/strong> Matt Warren founded the company in 2013 as an online seller for customers who needed software that made shipping orders from multiple sales channels cheaper and easier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n READ MORE: AMAZON FACES SOARING COSTS AS UK CHANCELLOR HIKES WAREHOUSE RATES<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n He said: \u201cOur new office in Swansea will be a hub from which Veeqo can build the services which make it easier for entrepreneurs and small businesses to sell around the world. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI am proud that Amazon saw the value of our amazing team, and that we have continued to create highly-skilled tech jobs in Wales.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n John Boumphrey, Amazon\u2019s UK country manager<\/strong><\/a>, said: \u201cSwansea has been a centre of tech talent and academic excellence for many years now, so we are delighted to open our first development centre in Wales, working closely with Veeqo to build the cutting-edge tools which will supercharge growth for its ecommerce partners, benefiting millions of customers.
