Twitter layoffs are continuing despite new boss Elon Musk telling staff he was done with job cuts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The social media giant is likely to have its lowest headcount in over a decade as a result.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

REVENUE<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n More cuts were made in Twitter\u2019s advertising, trust-and-safety, and monetization division two weeks ago, with dozens of roles affected. <\/p>\n\n\n\n And, last week, layoffs occurred in its offices in Singapore and Australia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Employees expect plans to close many international offices and several smaller offices in the US to result in more downsizing in 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n If it gets implemented, the company\u2019s headcount could soon fall below 2,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n That means the social media giant<\/a><\/strong> will be a much smaller Twitter became a public company in 2013 and it employed 2,700 people at that time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Dipping under 2,000 employees would also mean Musk would have reduced Twitter’s headcount by more than 75 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This is far more than expected when Musk took the helm in October following his $44 billion takeover.<\/p>\n\n\n\n His first round of cuts wiped out almost half of Twitter\u2019s employees, followed by resignations when Musk mandated a \u201chardcore\u201d work environment<\/strong><\/a> or else staff should leave the firm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n READ MORE: NEW INVESTOR explanation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Even while Musk said in November that no more waves of cuts were “planned,” Twitter employees have come to accept that most of what he says cannot be relied on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The billionaire has compared Twitter to a \u201cplane headed towards the ground at high speed\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n At the same time, he has blamed previous leadership and spending policies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Within three months of his tenure as CEO, hundreds of advertisers have distanced themselves from the platform because of its chaotic policy implementations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n READ hate speech to the reinstatement of accounts banned for inciting violence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Musk has also made a number of politically motivated and deceptive comments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Twitter’s revenue is mainly dependent on advertising<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In November, Musk said that the firm was “losing $4 million a day.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n Yet, when Twitter announced its financials as a public company for the second quarter of last year, it lost almost $3 million each day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Twitter made $513 million in profit in the first quarter of the previous year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Need Career been repurposed into sleeping quarters<\/a><\/strong> and showers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n There have even been complaints that cuts to janitorial and facilities workers have made the offices unhygienic and bug-infested.<\/p>\n\n\n\n His decision to shut down a key data center in Sacramento, California, on Christmas Eve was also motivated by cost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The operation of such facilities can cost several million dollars every month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n A Twitter representative did not respond to an email requesting comment on the latest staff cuts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Source:
