Aldi will create 1,000 new jobs across the UK by the end of the year as part of its expansion plans.

The retailer, the UK’s fourth-largest supermarket with over 1,020 stores and more than 45,000 employees, will open an average of one new store per week until Christmas.

New locations include stores in Plymouth, Leeds, and London.

The new roles will encompass a range of positions, including managerial roles, caretakers, cleaners, and store apprentices.

Aldi recently announced its second pay increase for store staff this year, investing £79 million in pay raises.

Store assistants now earn £12.40 per hour nationally, rising to £13.35 per hour, and up to £13.95 per hour inside the M25.

Kelly Stokes, Aldi UK’s recruitment director, said: “As we continue to open in new areas, we’re looking to welcome hundreds more colleagues to our amazing teams across the country.

“We want even more people to be a part of our success in the future, which is why we offer a great working environment and opportunities to progress within the business.”

In addition to its hiring efforts, Aldi is investing over £90 million in-store improvements this year to enhance the shopping experience.

Over 30 stores will be refurbished this summer, with more than 100 additional stores scheduled for upgrades later in the year.

This investment aims to align the shopping experience with the high quality of Aldi’s products.
