Japanese cybersecurity firm Trend Micro has announced a two percent job cut, affecting around 150 employees worldwide.

The company employed a total of 7,582 as of June 2023.

This move is part of the company's broader business transformation plan to shift towards customer expansion through its platform.

A Trend Micro spokesperson said: “Trend Micro informed 2% of its worldwide team that their roles were eliminated.

“This decision is in alignment with Trend Micro’s business transformation and focus on customer expansion through our platform.”

In November, the company clarified that it had no plans to increase its staff numbers actively, when responding to questions about declining headcount.

This is a broader trend in the technology sector, with companies such as Unity Software and Xerox recently announcing layoffs.
