Siemens Energy’s wind turbine division, Siemens Gamesa, will cut 4,100 jobs, about 15 percent of its workforce.
In an internal letter, the unit’s CEO Jochen Eickholt wrote: “Our current situation necessitates adjustments beyond organizational changes. We must adapt to lower business volumes, reduced activity in non-core markets, and a streamlined portfolio.”
A Siemens Energy spokesperson said the company would disclose the number of affected jobs after consulting with all stakeholders, declining to comment further.
The job cuts plan, initially reported by Spanish newspaper El Correo, follows Siemens Energy’s recent major restructuring announcements for Siemens Gamesa, which included anticipated staff reductions.
Eickholt said the company aims to maintain its headcount by reallocating jobs and hiring more employees in other parts of the division.
