Snap employees will be forced to spend at least four days a week in the office from February.

Starting at the beginning of next year, Snap employees will likely spend the majority of their working hours in an office.

Snap Employees will need to spend at least four days a week at an office starting on Monday, February 27, according to a source.

CEO Evan Spiegel made this announcement during Monday's weekly Q&A with workers.

The change is a departure from the business's "remote first" strategy, which permits employees to work remotely or anywhere else.

The company has been shedding jobs throughout 2022.

A Snap representative said: "After working remotely for so long we're excited to get everyone back together next year with our new 80/20 hybrid model.

"We believe that being together in person, while retaining flexibility for our team members, will enhance our ability to deliver on our strategic priorities of growing our community, driving revenue growth, and leading in AR."

The move has not gone down well with some employees.

Insider was shown a message from one employee who, in response to the change, simply wrote "no" 17 times.

Another worker claimed that the modification felt like "punishment" for Snap's "bad management," which included overhiring during the coronavirus outbreak and struggling to recoup this year after Apple's privacy reforms negatively impacted its advertising-based company.

Another person referred to the choice as "complete bs" and indicated they would begin looking for alternative employment.

Many computer firms have maintained work-from-home or even work-from-"anywhere" practices since the epidemic first emerged in 2020.

As part of new cost-cutting initiatives, Facebook will close some locations and continue to permit staff to work remotely.

Other companies, such as Apple, began requiring employees to work three days per week in the office. Twitter's new owner, Elon Musk, requires full-time in-office work.

Snap laid off approximately 20 percent of its workforce in September. Employees had expected some layoffs, but the scale of the layoffs surprised many, given Spiegel's comments about Snap's declining advertising business and a hiring freeze.

Snap has continued to expand its advertising capabilities while cutting costs since the layoffs. According to Insider, the company is closing its San Francisco office.

A spokesman at the time stated that the office had seen little use since the company implemented a "flexible work policy" during the pandemic.
