Getir has announced its exit from the UK market, resulting in around 1,500 job losses.
The move is part of its decision to withdraw from European operations and refocus on its domestic market.
The rapid delivery company also leaves Germany and the Netherlands, following earlier exits from Italy and Spain.
While the number of UK job cuts remains unclear, the company employs up to 1,500 staff, including warehouse operators, managers, and riders.
Getir’s withdrawal from the UK follows reports of major losses due to rapid expansion and a slowdown in growth as shoppers shifted away from online convenience shopping after the pandemic.
In a statement, Getir announced its non-Turkish business accounts for only seven percent of its revenue, leading to the decision to withdraw from Europe and focus on its core operations in Turkey.

The company also announced a new investment round, led by Mubadala and G Squared, to strengthen its food and grocery delivery business in Turkey.
The statement read: “Getir expresses its sincere appreciation for the dedication and hard work of all its employees in the UK, Germany, the Netherlands, and the US.”
