Holland & Barrett has offered a nine percent pay rise for its store workers from 1 April, nearly 5 percent higher than the National Living Wage.

The health and wellness retailer will increase its hourly rates from £11 to £12 for employees outside London and from £11.95 to £13 for those within the city.

This change marks a significant 25 percent wage increase over the past two years for its store staff.

This decision follows a period of growth for Holland & Barrett and is part of its strategy to attract and retain employees amid a competitive retail environment

Holland & Barrett UK and Ireland CEO Anthony Houghton said: “We are delighted to once again be offering a substantial pay increase, alongside our strong benefits plan.
