Ford and UAW agree deal to avoid strike at Kentucky plant

Ford and a United Auto Workers local union, UAW Local 62, have reached a tentative agreement, averting a strike at the automaker’s lucrative plant.

If their demands were unmet, the UAW warned of a strike involving nearly 9,000 workers at Ford’s Kentucky truck plant on Friday, February 23.

These demands raised a number of local issues, including skilled trades, ergonomics, and health and safety concerns.

Ford said it was “pleased to have reached a tentative agreement.”

The Louisville plant is the company's largest in employment and production.

It manufactures Ford Super Duty pickups, Ford Expeditions, and Lincoln Navigator SUVs.

Despite the agreement, numerous local contracts across the Big Three automakers—Ford, General Motors, and Stellantis—are still under negotiation.

They focus on plant-specific issues distinct from the national agreements ratified by the UAW in late 2023.
