Chia seeds sold at Walmart stores nationwide are being recalled due to potential salmonella contamination, as announced by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The recall affects 32-ounce pouches of Great Value Organic Black Chia Seeds, which expire on October 30, 2026.
They are supplied by Natural Sourcing International (NSI), a Los Angeles-based private-label food supplier.
Walmart, which introduced its Great Value brand in 1993, distributed the potentially contaminated products across its retail stores nationwide.
Salmonella can lead to severe and sometimes fatal infections.
It is particularly dangerous to young children, the elderly, and people with weakened immune systems.
Healthy people infected with the bacteria may experience fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain.
The recalled chia seeds can be identified by the lot number 24095 C018 and the UPC 078742300665 printed on the bottom of the back panel of the packaging.

Consumers who purchased the affected products should dispose of them immediately.
The can also provide proof of purchase when contacting NSI for a replacement.
