Warner Bros Discovery has slashed nearly 70 employees from its sports division as it continues to reduce staff numbers.
Most of those fired worked for the department’s Turner Sports and Bleacher Report brands.
However, a few staffers from the company's Atlanta studio also lost their jobs.

WBD Sports CEO Luis Silberwasser told staff through an email on Tuesday, November 15.
He said: “Today we communicated difficult staffing decisions that affect team members within our sports organization, and it has been an emotional and challenging day for everyone.
“Our reality is we must evolve to position WBD and our Sports division for long-term success against an environment that includes a challenging macroeconomic forecast, as well as headwinds from the accelerated changes in our media industry and business model.

"Today’s actions are necessary as we transform and evolve our business, as we remain focused on delivering best-in-class product, talent and digital experiences for our fans.”
Turner Sports broadcasts major sports leagues like the NBA and NHL and the Bleacher Report is a sports culture website and video series.

The layoffs constitute around 10 percent of the staff in those departments.
Sports is the latest Warner Bros Discovery unit to be impacted by the company's budget cuts and layoffs since its formation via merger this April.
WBD CEO David Zaslav is on a drive to reduce the company's expenses by $3 billion.

The company's unscripted, scripted, and animated television divisions have cut about 125 positions.
As concerns of a recession mount, many entertainment firms, like Criterion Channel and Nexstar, have taken the initiative through massive cutbacks.
The Walt Disney Company is also likely to start layoffs and a hiring freeze shortly.
