Purpose

The Senior Vice President, Construction (SVP, Construction) leads construction and procurement activities for Aligned Solar Partners (ASP). ASP is one of Aligned’s core investment strategies and it involves acquiring, financing, constructing, and operating middle market solar, energy storage, and other clean energy infrastructure projects in the United States.

Duties and Responsibilities

This is a senior position that is responsible for the construction and procurement execution of the ASP strategy. It includes opportunities for growth and advancement.

Specifically, the SVP, Construction will have the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Lead selection of Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) firms to construct ASP projects;
  • Lead negotiation of EPC contracting in coordination with outside counsel and ASP management;
  • Lead and execute procurement strategy for ASP, including solar modules, energy storage systems, and other key equipment in coordination with our procurement advisors;
  • Oversee construction of ASP projects in coordination with ASP Construction Project Managers;
  • Direct ASP Construction Project Managers in coordination with the Director, ASP;
  • Support structured financing, project acquisition, and portfolio management functions as related to EPC and construction functions (i.e. Independent Engineer reports, O&M decisions related to construction, etc.);
  • Engage professionally with external stakeholders;
  • Closely track and report on relevant market, industry, and regulatory developments; and
  • Represent Aligned at conferences, industry panels, and other external engagements; and
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, Clean Energy, or a related field;
  • At least seven years of experience in renewable energy construction, EPC selection and contract negotiation, procurement, or a relevant clean energy/power generation or construction field;
  • Strong technical understanding of distributed energy construction, technology, EPC functions, and operations;
  • Demonstrated experience successfully selecting, executing, and managing EPC relationships;
  • Experience procuring solar modules, energy storage systems, and other key equipment;
  • Familiarity with managing project managers and consultants;
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously;
  • Fluency in written and verbal communications; and
  • Strong commitment to addressing the threat of climate change.

Role

Aligned is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Associate to join the Aligned Solar Partners (ASP) team. ASP is one of Aligned’s core investment strategies which involves acquiring, financing, constructing, and operating middle market solar, energy storage, and other clean energy infrastructure projects in the United States. This role offers exposure to the full lifecycle of the investment process, including origination, due diligence, financial analysis, financing, execution, and portfolio management. This role carries meaningful responsibility alongside opportunities for growth and advancement. We have offices in New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco with a preference for this individual to be based in one of our West Coast locations.

Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain detailed financial models inclusive of varying debt and tax equity structures, return metrics, and sensitivity analysis to evaluate investment opportunities.
  • Support origination efforts inclusive of bidding, structuring, modeling, and preparing and presenting investment memorandums to Aligned’s Investment Committee.
  • Support the day-to-day negotiations, execution, diligence, and ongoing management of key contracts and engagements relating to project acquisition, debt and tax equity placement, and all third-party stakeholders.
  • Support portfolio management relating to ASP’s previous, current, and upcoming funds, as well as closely track and report on relevant market, industry, and regulatory developments.
  • Support fundraising workstreams inclusive of professional engagement with current and prospective investors, preparation of materials, and investor reporting.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field from a top-tier accredited university.
  • 3-5 years of experience in private equity, investment banking, or project finance in power and renewables.
  • Strong financial modeling skills with an ability to build and review valuation, debt, and tax equity models.
  • Demonstrated exposure to M&A, structured finance, tax equity, debt financing, and joint venture transactions.
  • Understanding of distributed energy regulatory frameworks, unique offtake structures, and policy incentives.
  • Understanding of project development, power markets, contracting structures, and financing considerations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to distill analysis into clear recommendations.
Compensation
  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience with a base salary ranging between $140,000 - $160,000.
  • Eligibility for an annual bonus.
  • Eligibility for carried interest.
