The Team

Black & Veatch’s Infrastructure Advisory Business provides a portfolio of solutions focused on the asset lifecycle, including Asset Management & Operations & Maintenance, Infrastructure Technology, Cybersecurity Solutions, Planning and Transactions. In this role you will be part of the Delivery Team supporting Solutions.

The Opportunity

Black & Veatch is seeking an exceptional professional to join our Infrastructure Advisory organization as a Manager to deliver strategic asset management projects for our clients, with a focus on asset investment planning for electric utilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with gas and electric utilities to develop asset investment plans, utilizing industry-leading tools and models to optimize capital investments through assessment of risks and benefits, and development of value models.
  • Deliver innovative solutions to address clients’ most pressing issues, including aging infrastructure, optimizing asset investments, improving data management and decision making, and enhancing organizational capabilities.
  • Serve as the project manager on asset investment plan projects. Orchestrate tasks, coordinate resources, and manage schedule, budget, and quality requirements.
  • Provide asset management technical subject matter expertise on projects, apply asset management best practices and detailed knowledge of electric T&D assets and utility operation and maintenance, and recommend solutions to clients.
  • Use expertise to analyze and interpret quantitative and qualitative data to provide insights, identify trends, opportunities and risks, review alternatives and develop solutions.
  • Lead client meetings and workshops, develop presentations and communicate effectively with clients.
  • Support business development activities, and lead development of scopes, schedules and budgets.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree
  • Professional Engineer License
  • IAM Certificate in Asset Management
  • Consulting experience with electric utilities
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant work experience
  • Typically 7+ years experience in a business/consulting environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in electric utility engineering, operations and maintenance.
Certifications

**Job Summary**
Join our construction team as a Mechanical Field Engineer supporting a combined cycle power project. In this role, you will help keep field activities moving in alignment with project contract specifications and technical requirements. You will serve as a key connection between engineering, construction leadership, subcontractors, vendors, and client representatives, helping resolve technical questions, support field execution, and ensure work is completed to quality standards noted in specifications, contracts, and drawings.

**Key Responsibilities**
In this position, you will support mechanical piping and equipment installation activities for gas-fired power generation projects at the combined cycle facilities. You will work closely with home office engineering, vendor technical advisors, OEM representatives, subcontractors, and client teams to help ensure equipment deliveries, technical support, and field activities are aligned with the specifications and drawings.
You will provide technical guidance by interpreting design drawings, specifications, and project requirements, while helping subcontractors understand the overall design intent. You will monitor assigned subcontractors for compliance with technical requirements and support timely resolution of field questions to reduce delays and keep construction progressing.
Additional responsibilities include coordinating with the Field Subcontract Manager, preparing daily site reports, completing quantity take-offs to support planning and invoice review, maintaining conformed-to-construction drawing markups and project records, and responding to Contractor Information Requests and Requests for Information.
**Preferred Qualifications**
2 to 6 years of construction management, field engineering, or design experience on power generation, simple cycle, combined cycle, or similar facility construction projects.
Required Skills: Strong communication and organizational skills; basic proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; ability to interpret mechanical engineering drawings, specifications, and related construction documents; ability to work effectively with field teams, subcontractors, vendors, and client representatives in a fast-paced construction environment.
Preferred Skills: Experience with gas turbine, HRSG, steam turbine, balance-of-plant, mechanical piping, or equipment installation on simple cycle or combined cycle projects; knowledge of cost control and scheduling; ability to complete material take-offs and field estimates; mechanical system design experience; supervisory or lead experience; and contract administration experience.
**Minimum Qualifications**
6+ years construction management experience in similar facility construction. PE required or degree + 4 years design experience and 6+ years construction experience.; Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from either an ABET accredited program. The Virtual Design & Data Solutions (VDDS) Senior Engineering Technician plays a key role in supporting the development of high‑quality engineering 2D/3D deliverables for these complex infrastructure projects. Under minimal supervision, this position performs technical tasks requiring advanced knowledge of electrical engineering principles and practices, with a focus on creating and modifying electrical design drawings using advanced techniques in industry‑standard design tools, such as Bentley MicroStation and other Bentley tools. Advanced knowledge of project budgets and schedules is required.
For lighting design, experience with AGI32 is preferred to support accurate modeling and illumination calculations across BESS facilities.

**Job Summary**
Join our construction team as a Mechanical Field Engineer supporting a combined cycle power project. In this role, you will help keep field activities moving in alignment with project contract specifications and technical requirements. You will serve as a key connection between engineering, construction leadership, subcontractors, vendors, and client representatives, helping resolve technical questions, support field execution, and ensure work is completed to quality standards noted in specifications, contracts, and drawings.

**Key Responsibilities**
In this position, you will support mechanical piping and equipment installation activities for gas-fired power generation projects at the combined cycle facilities. You will work closely with home office engineering, vendor technical advisors, OEM representatives, subcontractors, and client teams to help ensure equipment deliveries, technical support, and field activities are aligned with the specifications and drawings.
You will provide technical guidance by interpreting design drawings, specifications, and project requirements, while helping subcontractors understand the overall design intent. You will monitor assigned subcontractors for compliance with technical requirements and support timely resolution of field questions to reduce delays and keep construction progressing.
Additional responsibilities include coordinating with the Field Subcontract Manager, preparing daily site reports, completing quantity take-offs to support planning and invoice review, maintaining conformed-to-construction drawing markups and project records, and responding to Contractor Information Requests and Requests for Information.
**Preferred Qualifications**
2 to 6 years of construction management, field engineering, or design experience on power generation, simple cycle, combined cycle, or similar facility construction projects.
Required Skills: Strong communication and organizational skills; basic proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; ability to interpret mechanical engineering drawings, specifications, and related construction documents; ability to work effectively with field teams, subcontractors, vendors, and client representatives in a fast-paced construction environment.
Preferred Skills: Experience with gas turbine, HRSG, steam turbine, balance-of-plant, mechanical piping, or equipment installation on simple cycle or combined cycle projects; knowledge of cost control and scheduling; ability to complete material take-offs and field estimates; mechanical system design experience; supervisory or lead experience; and contract administration experience.
**Minimum Qualifications**
6+ years construction management experience in similar facility construction. PE required or degree + 4 years design experience and 6+ years construction experience.; Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from either an ABET accredited program. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

+ Advanced knowledge of engineering design principles and applicable design guides and standards
+ Working knowledge of interdisciplinary project coordination: procurement, subcontract administration, permitting, real estate and land acquisition, and construction support
+ Working knowledge of the proposal process and developing engineering estimates
+ P.E. License highly preferred

**The Opportunity**
_As an Associate Structural - Transmission Line Engineer you will have the opportunity to:_
+ Support global transmission projects performing design engineering and analysis of transmission line work.
+ Support large, extensive 345kV+ rebuild and greenfield projects, including trending technologies like HVDC and 765kV.

**The Opportunity**
This opportunity with Black & Veatch offers the chance to collaborate with multidisciplinary project teamswithin the Distributed Infrastructure Market Sector, supporting Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) projects and building critical infrastructure for today's and tomorrow's challenges. Electrical professionals contribute to power systems design, including conduit design, cable tray design, grounding, lighting, and other electrical systems supporting BESS projects.
The Virtual Design & Data Solutions (VDDS) Staff Engineering Technician plays a key role in supporting the development of high‑quality engineering 2D/3D deliverables for these complex infrastructure projects. Under general supervision, this position performs technical tasks requiring advanced knowledge of electrical engineering principles and practices, with a focus on creating and modifying electrical design drawings using advanced techniques in industry‑standard design tools, such as Bentley MicroStation and other Bentley tools.
For lighting design, experience with AGI32 is preferred to support accurate modeling and illumination calculations across BESS facilities.

**Job Summary**
The Subcontract Representative is responsible for mildly complex subcontract development and/or administration in support of proposal and/or project requirements within the Subcontracts Group. May be responsible for administering Subcontracts Field Management process.
**Key Responsibilities**
General:
+ Assigned mildly complex subcontracts.
+ Files appropriate record documents and follows filing rules.
+ Proficient in the basic functions of applicable software.
Subcontract Development Responsibilites (if assigned):
+ Prepares subcontract related bid documents and bidders list.
+ Conveys basic to moderately complex scoping information to Subcontractors with oversight as needed.
+ Manages the bid evaluation process through the distribution of proposals to evaluators, preparation of the bid tabulation, and collaboration with the team on the evaluation. Makes recommendations for selected bidder(s) and for award.
+ Schedules, coordinates and manages the negotiation process with oversight. Begins to resolve simple and mildly complex commercial terms and conditions exceptions.
+ Coordinates the award and contract conforming process.
+ Ensures subcontractor compliance with Prequalification requirements
Subcontract Administration Responsibilities (if assigned):
+ Run kick off and progress meetings; draft/issue meeting minutes for assigned subcontracts
+ Draft/log formal correspondence for assigned subcontracts
+ Perform Change Management duties for assigned subcontracts
+ Review and process invoices
+ Closeout assigned subcontracts
**Minimum Qualifications**
