This role is part of Blue Origin corporate functions within HR Technology Operations, building and maintaining the digital systems that support Blue Origin's people and workforce. The team focuses on delivering reliable, innovative, and scalable technology solutions that enhance the employee experience and enable HR to operate at the speed of the mission. The Senior Software Engineer will build and implement AI-powered HR technology solutions across Workday, Cornerstone, and LMS platforms or custom solutions, with both hands-on coding and architectural thinking to ensure scalable outcomes.

Responsibilities and work focus are centered on designing practical, end-to-end HR technology solutions that improve employee self-service, automate workflows, and ensure high availability and reliability of HR systems.

• Design, develop, and deploy digital employee experiences across HR technology platforms including Cornerstone, LMS tools, and Workday, ensuring seamless end-to-end user journeys.
• Architect and build custom integrations between HR enterprise systems (Workday, Cornerstone, LMS) and internal/external applications using RESTful APIs, SOAP, GraphQL, and message queues.
• Leverage AI technologies and tools (e.g., LLMs, recommendation engines, intelligent automation) to enhance HR software capabilities, improve employee self-service, and drive innovation in people technology.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including HR business partners, data analysts, and ET stakeholders to translate people-operations requirements into actionable software solutions.
• Identify feature gaps between enterprise HR systems and develop remediation plans, building custom solutions that meet end users where they are.
• Contribute to the design, implementation, and deployment of enterprise-scale HR systems and services that are highly available, scalable, and maintainable.
• Produce quality technical documentation for defining integrations between enterprise-level HR applications.
• Adopt software DevOps technologies and CI/CD best practices to solve software automation and deployment challenges.
• Design and implement automations that reduce manual HR operational toil, streamline workflows, and improve system reliability across the HR technology stack.
• Apply SRE principles - including SLOs, error budgets, and incident management - and collaborate with SRE teams to ensure HR systems meet reliability and availability standards.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers and cross-functional team members who are passionate about improving the employee experience at Blue Origin, fostering growth across both technical and non-technical disciplines.
• Stay current with emerging HR technology trends, AI/ML advancements, and digital experience methodologies, proposing improvements and innovations to optimize system performance.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
• 7+ years of proven experience writing software and deploying it to production environments.
• Hands-on experience with at least one HR technology platform such as Workday, Cornerstone OnDemand, or similar LMS/HCM systems.
• Strong proficiency in languages such as Java, Python, or JavaScript/TypeScript. Experience developing APIs and building applications on them in a production environment.
• Experience with AWS cloud services, including containerization and orchestration using Kubernetes (K8s) and Amazon EKS.
• Demonstrated understanding of deploying web interfaces using React, Angular, or similar frameworks.
• Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools such as Datadog for application performance management, logging, and infrastructure monitoring.
• Experience solving complex problems by leveraging AI tools and integrating AI-powered solutions into software development workflows.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex systems to a varying user base.

• Master's degree in Computer Science, HR Information Systems, or a related field.
• Experience building and configuring Workday integrations (Workday Studio, EIBs, or Workday Extend).
• Deep familiarity with Cornerstone OnDemand administration, configuration, and custom development including learning management and talent management modules.

Compensation Range for WA applicants is 197,529.00 - 276,539.55. Other site ranges may differ.

This role supports the SFB Data Analytics & Technology team, which provides critical data analytics and technology development capabilities to Blue Origin's Operations and Strategy, Finance & Business (SFB) organization.

As a Business Intelligence Engineer III on the SFB Data Analytics & Technology team, you will be a strong individual contributor who leads your own analytics and data solution projects across the ORBIT platform and other emerging SFB initiatives. Your work will center on designing KPI frameworks, architecting dimensional models and semantic layers, and delivering insight-driven solutions that translate complex business data into clear, actionable intelligence. You will work deeply with Databricks and Blue Origin's broader data ecosystem, building robust data pipelines, and integrating with enterprise APIs to power the analytics experiences that leadership depends on. You will collaborate closely with business leaders, data owners, operations and finance stakeholders throughout Blue Origin to structure ambiguous problems and deliver scalable transformative solutions that directly support decision‑making at the highest levels of the company.

Your day‑to‑day activities will include designing and optimizing complex SQL and semantic layers, architecting dimensional models and data marts, implementing data quality checks and pipeline observability, and building parameterized BI assets tuned for performance. You will prototype custom visualizations using lightweight web components and SDKs, and develop persona‑tailored data stories with cross‑domain context and well‑defined metrics. You will leverage AI‑powered development tools to accelerate delivery while critically evaluating outputs for analytical rigor, architectural fit, and long‑term maintainability.
