Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the development and implementation of credit policies and risk management strategies to minimize bad debts and maintain a healthy loan portfolio.
  • Lead the credit approval process, ensuring all loans meet the institution’s lending criteria and credit quality standards.
  • Manage the credit risk assessment team, guiding them in the evaluation of borrowers’ financial health and repayment capabilities.
  • Design and implement effective credit monitoring systems to identify and address potential risks in the loan portfolio promptly.
  • Collaborate with other senior management to align the credit department’s goals with the overall strategic objectives of the institution.
  • Develop training programs for credit department staff to enhance their risk assessment skills and knowledge of industry regulations.
  • Represent the institution in regulatory audits and examinations related to credit operations, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
Requirements
  • Proven experience managing credit functions in a bank environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred
  • 9+ years of progressive credit management experience in financial institutions, with at least 5 years at a senior leadership level
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and expectations related to credit risk management
  • Experience with credit portfolio management technology and analytics platforms
  • Outstanding communication and presentation abilities, particularly with senior executives and Board members
  • Excellence in developing credit talent and building high‑performing teams
  • Superior analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills

Pay Range and Benefits

Summary

This individual will be responsible for managing the retail branches, conducting business development within the communities that we serve, executing our customer experience strategy and leading the retail banking team. This role will oversee financial reporting for this area, talent development/management, and will assist in driving the growth of branch revenue. In addition, they will be responsible for overseeing branch key performance indicators and advancing our customer relationships.

Responsibilities
  • Understand and support the bank’s goals, mission, and values.
  • Knowledge of the market, competitor bank products/services/rates and the ability to leverage the advantages of Devon Bank’s products/services to continue to grow its success.
  • Supervise and oversee the operations of the branches and develop the growth of the retail banking team.
  • Ensure all retail employees are routinely trained and comply with all established procedures, policies and compliance requirements.
  • Attract and retain Top Talent.
  • Communicate sales objectives and branch goals to achieve Branch Performance Metrics.
  • Conduct training with employees to review sales & service skills, product knowledge and performance goals and achievements.
  • Maintain full knowledge of the Bank’s products/services including cash management products, pricing and internal requirements and be able to communicate these effectively to customers and/or prospects.
  • Develop and implement, with the assistance of the Branch team, a written Sales and Profit plan for the branches outlining each individuals’ goals and objectives based on market opportunity and existing customer base.
  • Provide leadership by example and through coaching, paying particular attention to sales and service performance and providing positive reinforcement, training and support necessary for employee success.
  • Partner with other departments to develop a high-quality customer experience.
  • Retain existing customers and increase the level of financial products and services used by these customers.
  • Demonstrate effective communication and sales presentation skills with current and prospective customers.
  • Responsible for supporting strategies that promote the growth of the bank by retaining and expanding existing and new consumer and business relationships.
  • Participate in and support execution of all marketing programs and campaigns.
  • Recommend new products and product enhancement ideas based on customer feedback, competitive situations and opportunities.
  • Participate in telephone sales and customer appreciation calls.
  • Actively participate in civic, business and other community activities which gain business opportunities for the Bank.
  • Participate in networking functions and opportunities within respective markets to increase awareness and develop new business.
  • Maintain awareness and understanding of current trends within the industry and demonstrate the utilization of the information to assist in job function and offer feedback to management to improve product offerings and/or efficiencies.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 5 years of retail banking experience; 3 years of people leadership experience required
  • History of achieving branch goals and KPI objectives over 2 consecutive years
  • Proven skills to effectively manage and have overall responsibility for the performance of an active retail bank
  • Proven skills to effectively speak before management, employee and customer groups
  • Three years of sales experience including two years in the financial services industry
  • Proven ability to perform mathematical calculations, including computation of ratios, percentages and payments
  • Ability to balance multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Must be self‑motivated
  • Ability to travel locally as needed
