About the Role:

Enterprise Risk Management team has a requirement of a Risk Capital Modelling Director with experience in Bermuda Regulation. The role will support analytics at Everest Group across consolidating entities (Group, US and Bermuda). The role will be part of the Financial Risk team and will work various stakeholders across the Group. This role is open to locations in Bermuda, New York City, London, Dublin or Warren, NJ.

Role & Responsibilities (include but not limited to):

  • Conduct reviews of BSCR calculations for Group and US entities to support effective challenge of the first line.
  • Maintain and enhance BSCR calculation tools (Excel, actuarial software, internal models) for accuracy and efficiency.
  • Implement BMA rules and guidance as into processes and modelling solutions.
  • Analyze changes in regulatory capital and BSCR ratio over time, considering underwriting, reserving, market, credit, and operational risks.

Capital and Risk Insights:

  • Deliver comprehensive analysis and insights on capital adequacy to inform business planning, determine risk appetite, and facilitate strategic decision-making.
  • Conduct or support capital impact assessments across multiple scenarios and stress tests involving new products, business lines, or reinsurance structures.
  • Explore capital optimization, including refining reinsurance strategies, legal entity structures, and intra-group transactions.
  • Engage collaboratively with Risk Management, Finance, Actuarial and Investments teams to ensure alignment between regulatory capital, economic capital, ORSA/ERM frameworks like risk appetite and stress testing activities.
  • Effectively communicate complex regulatory capital concepts to non-actuarial stakeholders, such as senior management, in a clear and concise manner.
  • Facilitate training and knowledge transfer within actuarial and risk teams regarding BMA capital requirements and associated topics.

Governance Controls and Documentation:

  • Design and maintain robust controls around the end‑to‑end BSCR process, including data validation, peer review, and sign-off procedures.
  • Produce and maintain clear documentation for assumptions, methods, and limitations. Including process maps and user guides for the capital calculation tools, governance frameworks and control checklists, contribute to internal and external audit requests related to regulatory capital and actuarial processes.
  • Develop and refine actuarial methodologies underlying BSCR calculations, such as Stress and scenario testing, aggregation of risks (correlation/matrix structures), parametrization (assumption development) of general insurance underwriting, market, credit, CAT (natural and man‑made) and other risks (including Climate, Cyber and Mortgage) where relevant.
  • Ensure actuarial models and tools comply with internal model governance standards, including documentation, version control, and validation protocols.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Near‑qualified or fully qualified actuary preferred (e.g., FIA, FSA, FCIA, FCAS, FIAA, AIA, ASA, ACIA, ACAS, AIAA, or equivalent).
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Economics, or a related quantitative discipline.
  • 10+ years of actuarial experience in P&C (re)insurance.
  • 5+ years of direct, hands‑on experience with Bermuda regulatory capital calculations, including BSCR, is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with other regulatory regimes (e.g., Solvency II, US RBC, ICES) and ability to compare frameworks. Including experience with ORSA or similar enterprise risk management frameworks.
  • Experience interacting with regulators, auditors or rating agencies is preferred.

The base salary range for this position is $116,000 - $150,000 annually. The offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, experience, qualifications and work location. Opportunity

This role is a unique opportunity for a talented senior re/insurance risk professional to join Everest Group at a moment of a strategic pivot, materially contributing to shaping an enhanced globalized ERM framework that is effective, pragmatic and fit-for-purpose. Centrally positioned overseeing Everest's Reinsurance business in the US, Everest's main US Reinsurance Legal Entities as well as Everest's growing 3rd party capital platform (Mt. Summary

A member of Everest's ERM Leadership Team, this leader will be the risk partner to the Reinsurance Division's leadership team in North America, as well as the CEO of Mt. Logan, Everest's growing proprietary 3rd party capital platform, covering the respective risk oversight responsibilities such as RCSAs, Operational Risk Heatmap and risk assessments of strategic initiatives. Provide independent oversight of risk for Everest Reinsurance Company (Delaware), one of Everest's largest main Legal Entities, and promote continuous enhancement of Everest's strong risk culture, actively promoting a culture of effective risk awareness, risk management and governance across the Global Reinsurance Division.

Responsibilities

Legal Entity Risk Management:

  • Be responsible for developing, implementing, leading and maintaining the risk management frameworks for Everest's Reinsurance Legal Entities in North America in close coordination with the International counterpart who covers relevant branches. Ensure appropriateness and consistency of risk management strategies, governance and policies in line with Everest’s Group ERM Framework under Group Supervision by the BMA in Bermuda and support the Compliance Function to maintain and enhance regulatory compliance from a risk management perspective. Continue development of a cohesive control framework and risk appetites in local entities. Lead annual Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (ORSA) reporting and support regulatory inquiries and requests. Lead the activities related to internal risk reporting with Legal Entity management and board as well as to Group ERM and Risk Committees. Establish key risk indicators within the businesses, monitor and evaluate against prescribed appetites.
  • Divisional Reinsurance Risk Management (in collaboration with International counterpart): Identify emerging key risks in collaboration with underwriting and other stakeholders – using external as well as internal perspectives to anticipate changes and assess impact on our environment. Maintain alignment and consistency with Everest’s Group-wide ERM Framework within the Reinsurance Division and ensure clear roles and responsibilities across the three Lines of Defense. Lead execution of risk control self-assessments, risk event management, operational risk heatmap at divisional level, and promotion of a strong risk culture in close coordination with first line risk owners. Support the Division's and Legal Entities' management teams to comply with their regulatory and governance duties. Oversee any risk remediation as appropriate and support periodic operational resiliency policies practices. Manage Reinsurance Division engagement with internal risk committee reporting up to local and executive management.
  • Large transactions, underwriting growth initiatives, retrocession and 3rd party capital: Manage the risk review of large and complex transactions, be it on the traditional incoming side (e.g. large structured reinsurance transactions), the outgoing side (e.g. large retrocession, ADC/LPT or third-party capital deals) or related to Mergers & Acquisitions. Collaborate with business underwriting teams to identify and assess risks related to growth initiatives across lines of business (incl. financial lines and parametric covers). Partner with the Mt. Logan management team as CRO to ensure all risks are reliably identified, understood and mitigated as appropriate, including those related to third-party investors in the insurance-linked space. Collaborate closely with other ERM teams to conduct underwriting risk oversight and specific line-of-business/product deep dives, where appropriate (including a particular focus on financial lines).
Qualifications
  • At least 10 years experience in reinsurance, of which a considerable part in Risk Management, actuarial qualification a plus
  • Comprehensive experience in risk mgmt. practices and governance demands for a 2nd line control function
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of operational and financial risks within a global reinsurer

The AVP serves as a key advisor to executive leadership and business partners on matters involving significant financial, legal, and reputational exposure, while also acting as a visible representative of the organization to insureds, brokers, reinsurers, and industry stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Portfolio & Strategic Leadership
    • Own and direct the Transactional and Private Equity claims portfolio, providing strategic oversight of complex, high‑exposure matters within delegated authority.
    • Establish and manage portfolio‑level strategies for reserving, large loss reporting, claim resolution, and emerging risk identification.
    • Identify, analyze, and communicate loss trends, legislative developments, and market dynamics with enterprise‑wide implications.
  • People & Performance Management
    • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of claims professionals, setting clear expectations for performance, technical excellence, and professional growth.
    • Establish individual and team goals, metrics, and performance standards aligned with Claims Department strategy and company initiatives.
    • Promote a collaborative, accountable, and high‑performance culture across the claims organization.
  • Executive & Stakeholder Engagement
    • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior management on claims presenting significant exposure or precedent-setting outcomes.
    • Maintain strong, strategic relationships with insureds, brokers, reinsurers, underwriters, actuaries, and internal partners.
    • Represent the organization at client meetings, broker presentations, and industry events to support retention, market credibility, and business development.
  • Claims Oversight & Technical Excellence
    • Provide executive‑level oversight of complex coverage analyses, liability assessments, and damages evaluations.
    • Review and approve coverage position letters involving novel or high‑risk issues.
    • Ensure timely, accurate, and appropriate reserving practices consistent with internal controls and governance standards.
    • Direct and approve negotiation, mediation, and settlement strategies; monitor and attend trials, mediations, and settlement conferences as required.
  • Vendor & Financial Management
    • Oversee relationships with critical vendors, including outside counsel, forensic experts, and other specialists.
    • Review, approve, and manage legal budgets and fee arrangements to ensure cost discipline and value.
    • Prepare and present Large Claim Reports for matters involving significant reserves, litigation activity, or trial exposure.
  • Cross‑Functional Partnership
    • Partner closely with Underwriting to support risk selection, policy construction, and drafting, leveraging claims insights and data analytics.
    • Provide feedback on policy language, claims trends, and underwriting risk assessment to drive product improvement and profitability.
    • Utilize data, metrics, and analytics to optimize claim outcomes, resource allocation, and operational efficiency.
Qualifications, Education & Experience
  • Minimum of 7+ years of progressive experience handling Private Equity and Transactional Liability (Reps & Warranties) claims, including leadership or management experience.
  • Demonstrated success managing complex, high‑severity claims and leading sophisticated claims portfolios.
  • Excellent executive‑level oral and written communication skills, with the ability to present clearly and persuasively to senior management and external stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, negotiation, and investigative skills; ability to think strategically across legal, financial, and business dimensions.
  • Deep knowledge of insurance coverage, litigation, arbitration, mediation, and trial processes.
  • In‑depth understanding of the insurance industry, regulatory environment, and claims governance standards.
  • Proven ability to leverage data and performance metrics to manage claims effectively and drive continuous improvement.
  • Collaborative leadership style with the ability to influence across functions and levels without direct authority.
  • J.D. and current bar admission strongly preferred; prior law firm or in‑house legal experience is a plus.
  • Holds or is able to promptly obtain all required adjuster licenses.
  • Willingness to travel as required.

The base salary range for this position is $180,000 - $215,000 annually. The offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, experience, qualifications and work location.
