Intralox, L.L.C., located in Hanover, MD, is seeking a Controls Performance Engineer to join our Business Benefits Team. The Hanover site serves as a hub for innovation in conveyance equipment and supports product releases for customers around the world. The Business Benefits Team is responsible for commissioning, supporting, observing, and optimizing new solutions that have been deployed at customer sites to ensure they are meeting or exceeding minimum performance, ergonomic, and reliability requirements. Within this environment, the Controls Performance Engineer plays a critical role not only in validating functional performance and robustness, but also in shaping and improving equipment performance.
Success in this role requires a strong foundational understanding of how the equipment functions to identify opportunities, develop improvement concepts, and influence solutions from both mechanical and controls perspectives. Working in close partnership with mechanical and controls engineers, the Controls Performance Engineer helps translate these opportunities into meaningful design and performance advancements. The Controls Performance Engineer is expected to provide ownership of the overall vision, strategy, and outcome of performance improvement efforts. In addition, the Controls Performance Engineer is responsible for developing efficient, comprehensive test plans and delivering clear, well-documented results that enable the broader engineering team to release equipment capable of long-term success in customer operations.
This is a customer-facing position where the Controls Performance Engineer will work directly with our customers to improve our systems. The Controls Performance Engineer must be able to communicate in an effective, professional manner what changes are needed and why so that we maintain alignment with the customer on how the systems are intended to be operated. This position will focus on the Activated Roller Belt (ARB) Equipment space.

Responsibilities- Provide technical support at client sites for new and existing systems.
- Lead field installation and commissioning of equipment.
- Observe system running under live conditions and analyze performance, making real time adjustments to parameters, code, and system logic to make sustainable improvements.
- Support mechanical and electrical subcontractors for installation of equipment at customer facilities.
- Support & troubleshoot mechanical and electrical equipment and systems remotely (phone/remote sessions).
- Develop and implement controls upgrades on existing systems.
- Lead troubleshooting and repair/adjustment of mechanical and electrical control systems.
- Work with other groups for continuous improvement of systems and processes.
- Work with Test Engineering Group and perform factory acceptance tests of finished equipment.
- Provide design and assembly support for industrial conveyor equipment, as needed.
- Create daily detailed reports of the day’s activities as a log of what changes had what impact on overall system performance such that the team can make an informed decision on the next steps to further improve performance.
- May be assigned small projects to complete independently.
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline.
- At least two (2) years of providing technical support at client sites, troubleshooting mechanical/electrical equipment, configure PLCs/HMIs, and related experience.
- Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude with a willingness to both design and perform field work.
- Ability to understand and work from electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
- Previous knowledge of commonly used controls engineering concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Ability to understand manufacturer data sheets and apply them in practice.
- Ability to configure PLC’s, HMI’s, computers, networks, cameras, and variable frequency drives which are used to control sorters, conveyors, and other related equipment.
- Ability to problem solve and be creative.
- Ability to make data driven decisions on their own.
- Proficient in creating field reports that document systems performance and environmental impacts on performance (mail mix/type, operator behavior etc.).
- Proficient with remote working tools (Zoom, Chime, WebEx, Teams, TeamViewer or equivalent).
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to build effective relationships with engineering groups, customers, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- A self-managed individual who is a team player.
- Ability to travel (20%-80%), work weekends, holidays and overtime when required.
- Must have ability to lift 50 pounds and climb ladders.
- Experience with Allen Bradley/Rockwell Automation Studio 5000 and Beckhoff Automation.

Job Responsibilities and Requirements
Responsibilities:
- Build in-depth understanding of Intralox equipment capabilities and value in the Logistics and Material Handling market.
- Support account teams to gain a deep understanding of customers' challenges and evaluate opportunities to optimize their systems.
- Develop layout drawings and estimate costs.
- Interpret customer specifications and criteria to recommend appropriate scope, develop layout drawings, and estimate costs.
- Evaluate and mitigate technical risk involved in projects.
- Present detailed solutions to customers using tools such as CAD and simulation software.
- Contribute to the improvement of products, processes, and applications based on customer needs.
- Up to 30% travel is required for customer visits, system troubleshooting, and training.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, or similar engineering field
- 3-5 years in related engineering role
- Excellent communication skills and customer facing experience.
- Direct experience with conveyance systems
- Analytical problem solver and willing to be "hands-on"
- Ability to travel including internationally and occasional weekend travel if required
- Experience with CAD
Desired Qualifications:
-Experience designing automated material handling systems or equipment
- Experience with electrical controls

Job Responsibilities and Requirements
Responsibilities:
- Design equipment according to application specifications, customer requirements, and within operational timelines.
- Applies engineering principles and practices in design, development, analysis, and release of projects.
- Collaborates and coordinates with internal and external stakeholders to fulfill project requirements.
- Identifies and prioritizes continuous improvement opportunities and works with the product development teams to implement them.
- Develops knowledge and becomes a subject matter expert (SME) within the engineering department.
- Build in-depth understanding of Intralox Activated Roller Belt Technology.
- Support generation of project documentation and equipment manuals.
- Support equipment installation & start-up and assist with troubleshooting field issues sometimes at customer site.
Requirements:
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 0-2 years' experience. Industrial machine design, conveyor equipment design experience preferred but not required.
- Proficient at creating detailed part, weldment, assembly, and installation drawings. Autodesk Inventor or similar 3D modeling software
- Proficient with using measuring devices, tools, and reading and understanding electrical schematics, P&ID, and mechanical drawings.
- Proficient with commonly used GD&T concepts.
- Computer proficiency in MS Office. Knowledgeable in programming languages is a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- A self-managed individual who is a team player.
- Travel required (5%) for equipment installation, start-up or troubleshooting often taking place on weekends and holidays to meet customer scheduling requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3D sheet metal design experience
- Windchill PLM experience
