Job Description

Vice President of Construction Operations Southern California (Los Angeles, Orange County or San Diego) $220,000–$250,000 Base Salary + Performance Bonus + Equity Opportunity

Lead Construction Operations. Shape Strategy. Build the Future.

We're partnering with a well-established and growing commercial construction organization seeking an experienced Vice President of Construction Operations to join its executive leadership team.

This is a unique opportunity for a true operations leader who thrives in the field just as much as the executive boardroom. Working directly alongside the CEO, you'll help drive the company's next phase of growth while remaining deeply connected to the day-to-day execution of projects, people, and operational strategy.

Unlike larger corporate environments, this role offers the opportunity to influence nearly every aspect of the business. You'll oversee multiple operational functions—including field leadership, production, scheduling, safety, labor planning, client relationships, and process improvement—making this one of the most visible and impactful leadership positions within the organization.

If you're looking for an executive role where your ideas matter, your decisions create immediate impact, and you have a clear path toward future C-suite leadership, we'd love to connect.

Why You'll Love This Opportunity
  • Partner directly with the CEO and executive leadership team.
  • Executive-level influence with the ability to shape company strategy and operational direction.
  • Small-company culture where your voice is heard and your impact is visible.
  • Hands‑on leadership role with exposure across every facet of the business.
  • Opportunity to improve systems, processes, and operational efficiencies.
  • Build, mentor, and develop high‑performing field leadership teams.
  • Clear runway for future executive growth, including potential COO succession.
  • Equity participation available for the right leader.
What You’ll Do
  • Lead construction operations across 30+ active commercial projects throughout Southern California.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and accountability for Superintendents and field leadership teams.
  • Drive production, scheduling, labor utilization, operational performance, safety, and quality.
  • Partner closely with the CEO on strategic planning, organizational growth, and operational initiatives.
  • Develop and improve operational systems, reporting, workflows, and field processes.
  • Monitor project performance, budgets, warranties, change management, and operational KPIs.
  • Build strong relationships with clients, ownership groups, property managers, and project stakeholders.
  • Evaluate operational technology and recommend improvements that support scalability and future growth.
  • Foster a culture centered around accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
  • Travel throughout Southern California to maintain a visible leadership presence across jobsites, support field teams, meet with clients, and ensure consistent project execution.
Regional Leadership Without the Weekly Flights

This is a highly visible leadership role requiring regular travel throughout Southern California to visit active jobsites, meet with field leadership, and support key client and operational meetings.

What that means:
  • Frequent same‑day travel throughout Los Angeles, Orange County, and San Diego.
  • Regular presence in the field to support teams and ensure operational excellence.
  • Attend client meetings, executive meetings, and occasional evening board or stakeholder meetings.
  • No overnight travel required —you'll be home every night while maintaining a strong leadership presence across the region.
  • Company vehicle or vehicle allowance provided.
What We’re Looking For Must‑Haves
  • 10+ years of construction operations and project management leadership experience, ideally within commercial, HOA, multifamily, or reconstruction environments.
  • Proven experience leading Superintendents, field teams, and multiple concurrent construction projects.
  • Strong understanding of scheduling, production, labor utilization, field operations, and operational performance.
  • Executive presence with the ability to build relationships with clients, ownership groups, and senior leadership.
  • Hands‑on leadership style with the ability to balance strategic thinking and day‑to‑day operational execution.
  • Experience driving process improvements, accountability, safety, and operational excellence.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience within commercial exterior construction, restoration, reconstruction, multifamily, or HOA environments.
  • Experience improving operational systems, scheduling tools, and field processes.
  • Experience scaling operations within a growing construction organization.
  • Southern California market experience is highly desirable.
  • Spanish‑speaking is a plus.
  • Competitive base salary of $220,000–$250,000
  • Performance‑based annual bonus
  • Equity opportunity
  • Medical, dental, and vision benefits
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Vehicle allowance or company vehicle
  • Paid holidays and PTO
  • Long‑term executive growth opportunities
The Culture

This organization has built an outstanding reputation through operational excellence, strong client relationships, and a commitment to doing things the right way. Leadership is collaborative, approachable, and deeply engaged in the business. This isn't an environment where executives lead from behind a desk—they're expected to be visible, accessible, and invested in the people and projects that drive the company's success.

The team values urgency, accountability, collaboration, humility, and continuous improvement. Everyone works together toward the same goal, creating a close‑knit, entrepreneurial culture where high performers have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact and continue growing their careers.

If you're a construction operations leader who enjoys rolling up your sleeves, mentoring teams, solving complex operational challenges, and helping shape the future of a growing organization, we'd love to hear from you!
