We are currently hiring for a Production Supervisor on day shift in our Traverse City facility. This position is responsible for supervising the work of bargained (UAW) employees on the shop floor, and for driving continuous improvement in the areas of safety, quality, production, and housekeeping.
Job Responsibilities / Key Accountabilities
- Manage production in home area while improving safety, quality, and housekeeping standards.
- Participate in continuous improvement efforts through Six Sigma, Kaizen, and Lean initiatives.
- Set work schedules for area of responsibility, and manage cross training schedules for direct reports.
- Determine root cause solutions for quality issues, safety issues, and production issues in area of responsibility.
- HS Diploma or equivalent; Associates Degree Preferred.
- 1-2 years' supervisory capacity in a manufacturing environment, preferrably in a union environment.
- Understanding of OSHA & MIOSHA safety standards as they apply in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience supervising maintenance in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Experience managing production schedules and working successfully through people to accomplish objectives.
- Understanding of Lean concepts as applied in a manufacturing environment.
- Exposure to Six Sigma, Kaizen, and Kanban a plus.
- Due to the nature of our business, candidates must be a US Person.
- Will occasionally cover peers' time off on other shifts and/or weekends.

Precision Grinder Responsibilities:
- Select and change wheel, shoes, drivers, diamonds & fixtures, loading plugs and balance wheel.
- Set size, parallel, drop, cycle time, set gauges with proper master ball from Q.A., loading and unloading plugs, loading chute,
- Run 1st piece part, make necessary adjustments to attain quality characteristics per print specifications and complete necessary paperwork to attain a set-up approval.
- Load parts in chute or place on fixture, cycle machine, check parts at designated intervals and make necessary adjustments to maintain quality characteristics of part per print specifications throughout machining operations. Empty parts pan at dress cycle.
- Package and tag parts, complete all required paperwork including SPC charting.
- Move parts to and from work area and scale as needed. Wash parts before running.
- Maintain all machine fluid levels
- Sign out all necessary gauging equipment from Q.A. and set gauges per print specifications
- Ring test abrasive wheels prior to mounting.
- Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent; post-secondary or trades / technical education and certifications preferred
- Mechanical aptitude and shop math competencies
- Strong ability to follow written and verbal work instructions

Purpose:
Philadelphia Gear part of the Timken Power Systems group in Santa Fe Springs, CA has a current opening for a Maintenance & Facilities Manager position. This position is responsible for capital equipment repair and preventative maintenance and ensures the optimal functioning of buildings, grounds, and associated equipment. Responsible for direct supervision of all general maintenance technicians. Responsible for maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements and maintaining all regulatory permits. Manages outside contractors that perform a wide range of services including but not limited to building and fire alarm services, air conditioning/climate control, janitorial, electrical, plumbing, and hazardous material and waste removal. Generally responsible for implementation of corrective actions from safety facility audits. Acts as primary liaison for site warehouse sub-tenant.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinates the day-to-day activities of General Maintenance Mechanics to achieve maximum operational uptime for all facility systems and capital equipment.
- Manages the program to schedule, plan and track completion of all planned and unplanned equipment and facility repair and maintenance activities.
- Develops and implements standard procedures to monitor equipment for performance, safety and effectiveness.
- Ensures compliance to all safety requirements in accordance with OSHA standards.
- Ensures compliance to all regulatory requirements in accordance with Federal, State and Local regulatory bodies.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Min Bachelor's degree with emphasis in Mechanical, Industrial, or related field, in lieu of degree 15+ years of Industrial Maintenance work experience.
- Leading and coaching skills, especially development and effective delegation.
- Broad background in manufacturing capital equipment maintenance and facilities maintenance and upkeep.
- Demonstration of ability to work within a team environment, both as a leader and as a participant. Experience working with people of various levels and backgrounds, specifically with maintenance technicians.
- Experience managing complex projects, such as capital equipment installation or refurbishment, facility renovation, utility system overhaul.
- Understanding of safety system and program maintenance and upkeep.
- Exposure to regulatory and environmental compliance activities.
- Computer proficient with Microsoft Office products (Word/Excel/Outlook/PowerPoint).

In this role, you will drive sustainable revenue growth by increasing sales and building strong, lasting relationships with customers in the overhead crane market.
