The Low Voltage Assembly Technician is an integral part of each upfit by creating custom electrical system, assembling and installing low-voltage systems. Summit Truck Bodies has an immediate opening for Low Volt Technician to join our assembly team!

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assemble and install Service Truck electrical systems, IE compartment lights, strobe lights and cranes.
  • Wire custom electrical systems according to vehicle specifications.
  • Install vehicle alarm and audio systems.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Other duties as assigned by the manager.
Requirements:

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

  • Requires frequent sitting, standing, balancing, bending or stooping for prolonged periods of time.
  • Manual dexterity, fine manipulation and the ability to reach with hands and arms and lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Must be able to operate simple to complex and heavy-duty machinery.
  • Normal range of hearing and vision.
  • Able to lift 50 pounds regularly.


REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 1-3 years professional experience with low-voltage electrical systems.
  • Must be able to read and interpret wiring diagrams and vehicle schematics.
  • Experience working with electrical systems for law enforcement and specialty vehicles is a plus!
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment in a safe manner.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to successfully complete a General Abilities Assessment and pass a post-offer background check, physical and drug screening.

Responsibilities
  • Provide front line supervision to drivers, program support staff, and additional staff assigned to the Shuttle Transportation Program, representing supervisory responsibility for 20+ employees.
  • Ensure efficient pull-out of all shuttle routes at the beginning of each shift so that all shuttle service starts on time and can maintain efficient and safe service.
  • Assign available vehicles to each route, ensure that all external signage is current, and drivers have necessary supplies and documentation paperwork.
  • Work with the Operations Manager pertaining to fleet management and movement of assets.
  • Oversee fleet of 20+ shuttle vehicles as well as support vehicles.
  • Review fleet condition daily and assist in scheduling vehicles for repairs as determined by the Operations Manager.
  • Ensure that the fleet is clean, working with the drivers to schedule and perform cleaning activities.
  • Oversee ordering and procurement of equipment and supplies, ensuring that staff and daily operations have all equipment and supplies needed; ensure that Shuttles are stocked with required supplies, schedules, and other informational pieces at all times.
  • Work with the Operations Manager to cover scheduled and unscheduled absences in the event a driver does not check in on time.
  • Assist with data gathering or updating shuttle operations records as needed.
  • Conduct on-the-road observations at various locations in the system, monitoring on-time performance, shuttle operations, customer service, safe driving principles and document/follow-up with any areas of concern.
  • Assist in the investigation of workplace crashes/injuries and ensure adherence to safety standards and safe workplace practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • 2+ years of experience in a Lead or Supervisory role
  • 2+ years of driving experience (shuttle, routed, or point-to-point transportation using a vehicle with a 10,000 GVWR or greater)
  • Must have experience in using Microsoft Office Suite
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record
  • CDL Class A, B or C License
  • Passenger Endorsement
  • Current/Active DOT Medical Card
