Our Information Technology team is looking for a Senior Security Engineer to join our team. The position is responsible for the monitoring, deployment, and support of the security functions and solutions within the enterprise with a specific emphasis on Network Security. The role will engage and support multiple security related projects and technologies, interfacing with others within the IT organization as well as other internal business units and external customers/partners. Our team is open to candidates from Pasadena or New Jersey.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor security alerts, events, and telemetry across the enterprise using Microsoft Sentinel and Microsoft Defender XDR.
  • Triage and investigate alerts, distinguishing true positives from false positives and prioritizing based on severity and business impact.
  • Perform threat investigations using KQL queries in Microsoft Sentinel Log Analytics and Microsoft Defender Advanced Hunting.
  • Develop, tune, and maintain detection content, including analytics rules, automation rules, workbooks, and Logic App playbooks.
  • Improve detection quality and reduce alert fatigue through continuous optimization and false positive tuning.
  • Produce and analyze SOC metrics (e.g., alert volumes, MTTD, MTTR, incident trends, SLA adherence) and deliver clear, actionable reporting to stakeholders.
  • Monitor and manage the security awareness training platform (Ninjio), ensuring compliance with mandatory training requirements.
  • Track and report on training completion, identifying delinquency trends across teams and escalating non-compliance as needed.
  • Design and execute phishing simulation campaigns, including realistic attack scenarios (e.g., credential harvesting, BEC, malicious attachments, QR phishing).
  • Analyze phishing campaign results (open, click, and submission rates) and document outcomes, insights, and improvements.
  • Support the full vulnerability management lifecycle, including assessment, prioritization, remediation tracking, and validation.
  • Review and triage vulnerability scan results, coordinate remediation with technical teams, and maintain an accurate vulnerability register.
  • Perform other duties as required and assigned.
Experience and Skills
  • Associate's Degree required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of related experience, ideally within the financial services or brokerage‑dealer industry.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Defender XDR (Endpoint, Identity, MDO, Cloud Apps).
  • Proficient in threat hunting methodologies, including MITRE ATT&CK framework.
  • Solid understanding of SIEM/SOAR concepts and security operations workflows.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Sentinel, including KQL, analytics rules, workbooks, and playbooks.
  • Working knowledge of the incident response lifecycle.
  • Experience with security metrics, reporting, and visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Sentinel workbooks).
  • Working knowledge of ITSM/ticketing platforms, including ServiceNow or Jira.
  • Strong understanding of vulnerability management tools and frameworks (e.g., Defender VM, Rapid7, CVSS scoring).
  • Experience supporting security awareness training platforms (e.g., Ninjio or equivalent).
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.
  • Effective communication with the ability to collaborate across teams and stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with Azure and Microsoft 365 security architecture preferred.
  • Knowledge of Palo Alto Networks NGFW and Prisma Access preferred.
  • Scripting/automation (PowerShell, Python) and cloud security fundamentals (Azure, AWS, GCP) preferred.

Compensation

The reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic location. A reasonable estimate of the current hiring range is $145,000‑$165,000.   • Experience with high‑availability solutions (e.g., Always On Availability Groups, Log Shipping, Replication)

  • Familiarity with cloud database solutions including Azure SQL, AWS RDS, Amazon Aurora, or managed PostgreSQL
  • Strong proficiency in SQL query optimization, database performance tuning, and troubleshooting

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with diverse stakeholders under tight deadlines in a high‑stakes environment
  • Experience working in regulated industries (e.g., finance, healthcare) is a plus
  • Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, PostgreSQL Certified Professional, MongoDB Certified DBA, or Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert are highly preferred

The reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic location. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $141,000 to $186,000.
