Summary of Position
The Staff Attorney is responsible for providing all legal services required to establish paternity, child support, medical support and the enforcement of new and existing orders. The Attorney provides legal advice, counsel and litigation services.
Essential Job Requirements- Ensures proper legal representation in all child support matters related to paternity and support order establishment and enforcement.
- Negotiates with opposing counsel, attends hearings, and performs other related actions
- Recommends and reviews legal actions.
- Drafts, reviews, and signs legal documents.
- Ensures all orders contain required federal and state elements and vigorously advocates the interests of the state.
- Updates automated systems with necessary information to monitor each case through the legal process.
- Provides legal advice to Specialists in completing documents for court filing.
- Maintains a positive working relationship with State.
- Attends weekly project team meeting.
- Applies knowledge of federal and state child support policies and procedures.
- Regular and timely attendance
- Other duties as assigned
A Juris Doctor degree and a license to practice law in the state where the project is located.
Required ExperienceLegal experience in domestic relations law or as a prosecutor is desired (child support enforcement preferred).

The Child Support Specialist provides full services to customers in all stages of the child support process. The Specialist interviews customers to determine service needs and to identify the next step needed in the case management process. The individual works to ensure all State, Federal, and contractual time frames are met concerning establishing and/or enforcing child support orders.
Essential Job Requirements- Initiates locate procedures such as location of customers address, employment, and assets.
- Obtains and processes information necessary for establishing the order.
- Conducts interviews with customers receiving and paying the support.
- Accesses system data, including state specific system(s) and appropriate internet resources to obtain relevant case information.
- Prepares cases and the necessary legal and/or administrative documents for review and approval by staff attorney and/or administrator/supervisor.
- Identifies administrative and legal remedies needed for enforcement of support orders.
- Maintains confidentiality and security of case information.
- Regular and timely attendance
- Other duties as assigned
High School Diploma or GED
Required Experience- Minimum of 1-year related work experience is preferred.
- Experience in human services as a case manager or child support is preferred.
- Familiarity with an office environment including the use of automated systems is desired.
